The next morning, I woke up by the sound of Derek, playing on his electric guitar. I rushed over to Derek's room and banged on his door, "Derek! Shut up! You freakin' woke me up, you loser!" He stopped playing and opened the door, "Introducing...your new alarm clock: me!"

"Ugh!" I screamed and hit him on the shoulder, hard. He smirked at me evily and continued to play his guitar as I walked back to my room.

I got my bags and carried it to the front door of my house. "Wow, you're early. You know it's only 7 right?" I heard my mom say behind me. She was preparing breakfast for me and Derek.

"Yeah, I know. Derek woke me up. My so called 'new alarm clock'" I said.

"Well, you can't blame him. He's having a concert with his band today at noon." she said as I grabbed some waffles from the table.

"So, when do we leave again?" I asked.

"8. You have a whole hour to be ready and get dressed." she said.

"A whole hour til my nightmare begins. L.A. might be a great, sunny, and bright place to live in but I liked New Jersey better." I said.

"Be grateful. We're lucky that we get to live in a wonderful house near Malibu Beach." she said, sitting down and drinking coffee.

"Whatever." I groaned. I walked up to my room and got changed.

When I finished getting ready, I walked back downstairs.

"I don't need to wear a uniform right?" I asked my mom.

"Why? 'Cause it's so out of season right now or so last year?" said Derek, mocking a girl's voice.

"Shut it, asshole!" I shouted.

"Don't worry, you won't." said my mom, "And what did I tell you about swearing in this house?"

"Little Koda's in trouble..." said Derek, snickering.

"Watch it, bro." I said warning him.

"Well, guess that it's time for me to drop you off at your new school. Hey mom, where's my car keys?" Derek said.

"Woah woah woah. YOU'RE driving me?" I said as my mom nodded. "Ugh and it gets better and better, doesn't it?" (Sarcasm :D)

"Don't worry, sweetie. You'll be fine." said my mom as she tossed the car keys to Derek. I groaned and picked up my bags.

"Have some good spirit, Dakota!" she said, cheerfully. She gave me a kiss on the cheek and hugged me, "I'm going to miss you alot! Have fun and remember to try and call us once in a while, ok?"

"Ok, I'll miss you too." I said when she let go of me.

"I love you!" she called out as Derek and I went out the front door.

"I love you too." I said. I hopped in Derek's old pick up truck and we left, off to West Seaside Academy.

When we got to West Seaside Academy, I looked out the window to get a good glimpse of the school. It was huge and I mean HUGE! I opened the car door and stepped out. Students here were walking by, talking to their friends or just hanging out. Some schools or academies stereotype people. Here, I think they do too. As I looked around, I saw people who looked like barbie wannabes and skaters. Some goths, nerds, and jocks too like football players. What am I? I'm probably going to turn into a loner soon.

"Scared?" asks Derek, behind me.

"No, just nervous. That's all." I said, showing no emotion.

"You'll be fine, sis. Oh who am I kidding, you probably won't make it til senior year!" teases Derek.

"Shut up! Bye! I'll be fine, I will." I said, not moving.

"Ok...well....see ya!" said Derek as he hops into the car.

"Wait!" I said turning around.

"What?" he said, turning on the engine. I went over to him and did something that I would never ever do in my whole entire teenage life. I hugged Derek and said, "I'll miss you, Derek."

"I'll miss you too, I guess?" he said. I let go of him and waved.

"Bye Koda, have fun....whatever." he said as he closed the door and drove away. I smiled and waved for the last time. I picked up my bags and walked towards the front entrance.
