ix. Medea
love?
I did what I had to do for love.
let it never be said of me that I lackd
devotion
to my children.
I did what I had to do
to free them
from that half of their blood
that belonged to him. he
is to blame for their weaknesses.
here is the truth about love:
it is a gaping mouth, an insatiable
collection of gnashing teeth.
it demands sacrifice. lay your love down
at my feet
so that I might devour it.
let no man condemn me
for giving up what I did.
let the muses sing praises to my name.
