they tied me to the stone
and in their minds I became a simple
sacrifice, pleasures of the flesh
incarnate.
when he swept in, gleaming
like the face of the moon, he told me
that I would soon
be safe. but the moon is only
reflected light, and I
am a galaxy in its entirety.
