24. Bancho Sarayashiki

Bohaterką legendy jest Okiku. Pracowała jako pokojówka w domu samuraja Tessana Aoyamy. Pewnego dnia podczas oczyszczania niezwykle cennych ceramicznych talerzy dziewczyna przypadkowo zbiła jeden z nich. Aoyama poczuł się niewybaczalnie znieważony i w gniewie zabił Okiku,a jej martwe ciało wrzucił do starej studni. Wkrótce jednak Okiku powróciła. Każdej nocy wydostawała się ze studni i powoli liczyła do 9, ponieważ 9 to liczba talerzy,które zostały w nienaruszonym stanie i wybuchała potwornym płaczem,wciąż od nowa zadręczając okrutnego samuraja. Zgodnie z legendą Okiku tak długo nawiedzała swego pana, dopóki ten nie popadł w obłęd.

The heroine of the legend is Okiku. She worked as a maid at the home of the samurai Tessan Aoyama. One day while cleaning extremely valuable ceramic plates, the girl accidentally beat one of them. Aoyama felt unforgivably offended and killed Okiku in anger and threw her dead body into an old well. Soon, however, Okiku returned. Every night she escaped from the well and slowly counted to 9, because 9 was the number of plates that remained intact and she burst into terrible tears, constantly tormenting the cruel samurai again. According to Okiku legend, she visited her master for so long until he went insane.

Die Heldin der Legende ist Okiku. Sie arbeitete als Dienstmädchen im Haus des Samurai Tessan Aoyama. Eines Tages schlug das Mädchen beim Reinigen äußerst wertvoller Keramikplatten versehentlich eine davon. Aoyama fühlte sich unverzeihlich beleidigt und tötete Okiku im Zorn und warf ihren toten Körper in einen alten Brunnen. Bald jedoch kehrte Okiku zurück. Jede Nacht entkam sie aus dem Brunnen und zählte langsam bis 9, denn 9 war die Anzahl der Platten, die intakt blieben, und sie brach in schreckliche Tränen aus und quälte ständig die grausamen Samurai erneut. Der Legende von Okiku zufolge besuchte sie ihren Meister so lange, bis er verrückt wurde.
