Trading goodies
Owen was super happy when he saw me, Iris woke up slightly surprised at my appearance. I asked her what had happened after handing her a glass of water for her cough.
"We were trading snacks since I didn't feel like eating the chips you gave me so I asked this boy named Josh if he wanted to trade my chips with his fruit snacks he said okay, and I didn't know there was a pineapple fruit candy in it but there was and... that's how I ended up here," she finished. "Will I be okay mommy," she asks, I nod.
"Of course baby just remember to be careful of what you eat next time," she nods and lays her head back down on the pillow.
The door opens and in walks a woman wearing scrubs, with a dark skin tone complexion I guess she is the nurse. "Oh, hello you must be Miss Yarbrough?" She asks with a smile.
"Yep, that's me," I answer and shake the hand she held out to me.
"Well I'm nurse Lisa and I have a few papers I need you to sign before Iris can go home," she says while gesturing me to follow her to her desk.
She hands me the papers and a pen. "What did you do for Iris she looks fine except for the coughing fit she just had," I say while signing the papers.
"I gave her two shots one for her allergic reaction and the second to stop the swelling that happened in her throat," I nod and hand the papers back to her.
"Oh well that's good is there anything I should do once we get home," I asked picking Iris up off the bed, she lays her head down on one of my shoulders.
"Meals for today should maybe be some warm soup and lots of drinks no soda, lots of rest of course and some of this medicine also," she hand me a bottle that's says: Tylenol Allergies Medicine for kids, which I place in my side bag.
"Thank you, is that all?" I ask walking behind her toward the door.
"Yes, and you can leave now the office has already been notified of Iris and Owens leaving," she smiles and opens the door for us.
"Thank you, have a good day," I smile, and grab Owens hand that wasn't holding Iris in my arms.
"I will, and get well soon Iris," Iris keeps her head down on my shoulder and give the nurse a dumbs up over her shoulder making nurse Lisa smile, amused.
We walk away after that and outside to my car. I didn't have any more classes so I took the kids with me to the store since I didn't have everything I need it to make Iris soup and we're low on toilet paper also.
We walk into the store, I took off my wig and glasses before we got out of the car.
I get a push cart and put Iris inside while Owen pushes the cart, standing in front of me and my arms around his head full of big curly hair which he won't let me cut.
"Mum can we get some ice cream?" Owen asked looking at the freezer across from the one I am standing at. I'm not and tell him to choose one for me and one for him and his sister.
"Are these good," Owen comes back out to me with a cookies and cream ice cream and a full-on plain vanilla ice cream which is his and Iris favorite ice cream.
"It's fine put them in the cart we got everything we need," I say watching him place the ice cream in.
After I paid and carried the few bags we had to the car and I waited till the kids buckled themselves in their seats before backing out of the parking spot and driving home.
"Guess what kids?" I say while still driving.
"What?" The twins ask in union.
"Your dad's coming back today from his trip," I say excited, I never did tell him about me and Mark I thought.
