Chapter 28

Emma's POV:

I slide Jacks phone out of my pocket and go to Daniels contact.

Jack(actually Emma): Hey

Daniel: Hey Jack.

Jack: Where are you?

Daniel: The airport. I've been sitting here for about an hour. I messed up dude...bad.

Jack: What do you mean?

I know it's mean to pretend to be Jack, but I wonder what Daniel is talking about.

Daniel: This wasn't part of the plan...

Jack: Plan? What plan?

Daniel: You know...I've told you this a hundred times. Logan told me to get with Emma to make her less weird. Remember now?

Less weird...My heart shattered into pieces. Why would he lie to me. Of all people, Why Daniel? Tears start to fall down my cheeks as I read the last text over and over again. This can't be real. He's joking. He knows it's me...right? Daniel wouldn't do this. I FaceTime Daniel.

"I never knew that someone I loved so much could treat me this way." I say with anger and sadness filled in my voice.

"E-Emma?!" Daniel asks.

"How? How could you do this to me? After all I told you, I was just a fucking plan?! A plan to get me out of my shell. What? Did Logan tell you to ask me out in the way you did?!" I ask. Daniel just looks down at the ground. I don't think my heart can take anymore.

"WELL YOU CAN TAKE ALL YOUR LIES AND SHOVE THEM DOWN YOUR GOD DAMN LONG THROAT! I HATE YOU DANIEL SEAVEY! I HATE YOU!" I yell, louder than I ever have before. Buckets of tears stream down my face.

"Emma wait, I can explain!" Daniel exclaims.

"You don't need to explain anything to me. You've shown me who you really are...Don't ever talk to me again." I say before hanging up the phone. Logan rushes into my room and wraps his arms around me.

"GET OFF OF ME!" I yell.

"Em, what's wrong?" He asks.

"You know that little plan you had with Daniel? The one to make me 'Less weird'. Well guess what? I found out about it! So fuck you. I can't believe you. I trusted you. I trusted all of the guys...And you're supposed to be my father? I will never call you that, ever!" I say and run out of the room. Tears are still running down my puffy cheeks.

"Emma wait!" Logan yells

"No, I won't wait." I say and see my phone on the table. I quickly walk over and grab it, then run out of the apartment as fast as I can. Before leaving I said, "Don't go looking for me. It'll be a waste of your time." 

I walk down Hollywood boulevard, tear after tear coming down my face, and dropping at my chin. I knew it. No one can love me. I'm not likable. I feel like this is a dream. No...a nightmare. A nightmare I can't wake up from. I need to escape...

"E-Emma?" Someone asks. I look up and see a woman that looks familiar.

"Do I know you?" I ask.

"Yes my dear, but it's been a very long time." The woman says. She looks like she just escaped jail.

"Who are you?"  I ask.

"Well honey, I'm your mother." She says and puts on a fake smile. My eyes widen.

"M...mom?" I ask shakily.

"That's right dear. Ive heard what happened to you. Your uncle is a very bad man. I'm sorry you had to go through that." She says and embraces me. I'm too shocked to move. I want to run away, but my feet are frozen in place. This woman killed my father. She's a monster. But she's your mom, you can't hate her forever. She abandoned me. I hate her. She gave you life. You love her. I love her? You love her. No I don't. She's bad. I'm going to run away. I need to run away now. Before I get hurt. No, stay where you are. Don't run. She will protect you. Protect me? I can't trust her. Yes you can. Why? Because she's your mom.

My mind and heart argued with itself for what seemed forever. 

"I love you darling." She says finally breaking the silence.

"I-I love you too mom." Five words I never thought I'd say.
