I thought being unconscious was supposed to be peaceful?

I can hear people screaming all around me, making me want to cover my ears to get away from the noise.
Then there is this blinding white light that seems to overtake me and all the noise seems to fade away from me. Finding myself laying on the ground, I push myself up into a standing position.

"Is this what death is like?" I ask myself not expecting anyone to answer, so when someone does I can't help but jump a little from fright.

"No, there is much more. Do you want to see it?" I hear behind me. Turning around, I find a guy standing there. He is beautiful beyond any words could ever describe.

"Do I know you?" I ask him.

"No, but I know you." The man answers.

"That's not creepy. So, am I dead then?" I can't help but ask the man, needing the answers more than anything at this moment.

"No, not yet but you will be. You need to make a choice. You can come with me and see what is next or you can return." He holds out his hand to me.

"I can go back?" I ask out loud.

"If that is what you choose." He says as he drops his hand back down to his side.

"I want to go back. I have things....things I still need to do. Please, I have to go back."

No sooner are the words out of my mouth I feel like I am falling before I am being slammed into something. I can feel my lungs take in a gasp of air, but before I fall completely back into the void, I swear I can hear someone yell my name.
They sounded so sad, so scared. I just wanted to tell them I'm going to be okay and not to worry.

All the noise around me slowly pulls me back to the surface and back to the land of the living. First, it is just random noise that does not seem to make any sense, but slowly the noise becomes voices distinguishable by the tone and how high or low the voice is. Then, the voices become distinguishable words that I never thought I would hear again. Not from him anyway.

"Come on, Y/N. You need to wake up." Alec starts to say. I can hear how broken he is by the sound of his voice. He takes a deep breath.

"I love you so much, Y/N. You can't leave me. I don't think I can live without you... I'm so sorry, Y/N." Alec grabs my hand.

I can feel him lifting it up. Turning my head, I manage to open my eyes.

"Alec?" I ask in a whisper, my voice rough from not being used.

My lips are dry along with my throat. I am in desperate need of a drink of water. That is all that I can think about, getting a drink of water.

"Y/N! You're awake. Are you in pain? Do you need anything?" He asks in rapid fire, one question after another taking my brain a moment to figure out what he is asking me, and a moment longer to form an answer.

"Water." I get past my lips.

Alec jumps up from where he is sitting next to me to get me a glass of water.

He is back in what feels like no time with a glass of cool water for me to drink. He tries to hold it so I can drink it without sitting up, but being the stubborn human that I am, I move to sit up.

"What are you doing?!" I hear him ask as I start to sit up. I can feel a twinge in my chest where the wounds are being pulled, but I don't feel any pain, telling me that I have been healed nicely and will probably just have some wicked scars for the rest of my life.

"I'm fine," I state as a take the drink from his hand causing our finger to brush together, making the sparks I've always felt when we touched travel up my arm, making me feel warm for the first time in what feels like forever.
