Castiel chuckles. "That logic is so beautiful flawed. I love it."
"And apparently water helps, so..." He tosses Castiel a plastic water bottle. "Drink up and enjoy the 'healthy' dinner I put together."
Castiel shakes his head in amusement. "Yes, very healthy," he jokes.
The two chat while they eat, mostly about stupid stuff like celebrity gossip and good tv shows. It's right around when they finish eating that Dean asks, "Are you cold?" noticing him shiver.
"I'm fine," Castiel lies. It is pretty cold for a May night.
"I can see those goosebumps," Dean tells him. "And something tells me you're not scared of werewolves. Here." He slides his flannel off and hands it to him.
"But now you're gonna be cold," Castiel protests.
"That's fine," Dean tells him. "Take it. You have no choice."
Castiel chuckles and slides it on.
"You should wear flannel more often," Dean tells him.
"Maybe I will, if you keep looking at me like that," Castiel replies with a grin.
Dean gives him a quick kiss, then points to the sky. "It's cliché sunset time," he explains.
They lie in the grass together, watching the sunset in silence. He's seen a lot of sunsets in his life —waiting for concerts to start is much more bearable thanks to it — but none have been as beautiful as this one. Maybe it's how he's not surrounded by all this man made stuff. Maybe it's the silence, interrupted only by the crickets chirping, really setting the mood. But most likely, it's the fact that he's here in this field with Dean, the love of his life, and everything just seems to be going perfectly.

They don't leave until well past nine o'clock. Once again, Dean gets the car door for him, then puts the picnic basket away and hops in the driver's seat.
"How was that for a first date?" he asks.
"It was perfect," he replies. It really was. It was a nice break from everything, and just having that time alone with Dean felt amazing.
"I'm glad," Dean replies. "But our night's not over yet."
"Really? I figured that was it."
Dean shakes his head. "Nope. One more surprise, then it's over."
"Do a get a hint about this surprise?" Castiel asks hopefully.
"Sure. Think back through the conversations we've had in the last few months, and maybe you'll think of it."
"Seriously?" Castiel whines. "That's not helping at all!"
"Then you'll just have to wait and see."
They park on the side of the road in a random neighborhood between the Novaks and Winchesters. Once again, Dean gets the door, being the gentleman he is. Castiel looks around, confused. Is this his way of making sure he doesn't get a sneak peak?
