Broken things

I like broken things
Because they're more memorable
A ticket to the past
Makes love less forgettable
See, that sounds poetic
But it's just not true
This might sound pathetic
But I'm broken too

I like broken things
Because they remind me of me
A reflection of sorts
And though it distorts
It's still clearer to see
But I'm still lying
Diverting and trying
To give my words meaning

I like broken things
That much is the truth
And so it begins
This discussion of things
Where I self-analyse myself
Shuffling theories on and off the shelf
I write often enough
To know off the cuff

I like broken things
Not to keep as a token
Or cause I'm still broken
But because they have substance
I don't think it's just by chance
There's more to write
About a shredded kite
Than one that's alright

I like broken things
Because they are writeable
It kind of excuses
Not being insightful
A vase with a crack
I could write front to back
About what it lacks
So I guess that's that.

There isn't really much to say about this. In my mind at least it speaks for itself, but if anyone wants an analysis I'd be happy to oblige.

What else?

I'm leaning more and more towards the "write in one go and don't edit" approach, which might come off as messy or less slick, but feels more honest and real.

What way do you guys write or prefer to write?

As always leave a poem in the comments if this makes you think of something, and recommend good collections to me (on or off Wattpad).
