"Get up, ya ugly shank! The shuck Maze ain't gonna map itself!"

A small, lazy frown appeared in between (y/n)'s brows as she turned her head slowly to the side, in the direction of the voice that had just taken her from the realm of dreams. Her (e/c) eyes fluttered open, slowly her sight adjusted just in time for her to see the Keeper of the Runners gearing up and getting ready to run the Maze as he woke up the other Runners.

A sleepy smile grew on her lips as she looked at him, watched his usual smirk appear on his face as he nudged one of his Runner partners in the ribs just as the poor boy was getting out of the hammock. Something that he always did, whether the boys liked it or not. No one ever complained about it.

And she always saw him do that, silently from her own hammock as it swayed slightly sideways with the subtle wind.

Alby had come to the Homestead at some point and was then talking to Minho, they weren't exactly talking quietly and their conversation could easily be heard above the snores of the still asleep Gladers all around her.

(y/n), however, did not pay attention to what the boys were saying; she was too focused on staring at Minho, at his tall figure as he stood before the leader of the Glade, hands on his hips, the smirk still plastered on his lips. He had an eyebrow perked up, probably was answering Alby's rambling with a sarcastic response. Typical of him.

And (y/n) only noticed she had been staring the whole time the moment a small hand suddenly waved up and down right in front of her face. A small gasp appeared on her face as she quickly sat up, her eyes went wide as she looked to her left to see a grinning Chuck, giggling. "You like him, don't you?" he whispered.

(y/n) rolled her eyes as she playfully shoved him away. A huff left her mouth as she lied back down on her hammock and looked back at Minho, only to notice that he was already walking towards the doors with Alby. She sighed and closed her eyes, Chuck's question echoed around her head then.

"You like him, don't you?"

(y/n) couldn't help but think about it – she had caught herself staring at him in more than one occasion those last weeks, whenever he was in the Glade and not running the Maze. It felt as if something was pulling her towards him, making her want to be with him as much time as possible – but only when they weren't talking or silently sitting by a bonfire on a Greenie Day.

When she talked to him she felt comfortable, happy, knew she could tell him anything without being judged – although she'd always have a sarcastic remark in response sometimes. When they were minding their own business, however, she couldn't help but sneak glances at him from time to time, found herself staring at him – admiring him.

Do I like him... that way? She wondered, the frown appearing once again on her face as she thought about it.

Shaking her head, (y/n) sighed again and sat up as she rolled out of the hammock, stumbled a little before she regained her balance. She decided to keep her mind busy with work – after all, there was a lot of work to do in the Glade, like every single day.

And working all day did certainly help her forget about her dilemma. Working in the Gardens actually made her feel like time flew, always got shocked when she had Newt walking up to her to tell her that he shift was already over.

And the moment her shift was over, the Runner always came back from the Maze. Which gave (y/n) the chance to stare a little more at the Keeper of the Runners as he ran towards the Map Room casually, again with that smug smirk on his face.

However, (y/n) felt a shiver running down her spine as her gaze fell upon the still open doors of the Maze that evening. Her stomach felt as if it was burning ever so suddenly, as though a small flame had been lit up inside, just as her heart rate sped up. She didn't like what she was experiencing at that moment, as her eyes were still locked with the Maze doors, watched as two Runners made their way back and across the Glade. Runners that she didn't know.
