【❸】interlude

Start from the beginning

yoongi's fragile-self came into her view as she soon felt tears soak her hoodie, heart-wrenching sobs filled up her ears as she realized once more that this was reality – she was stuck in dealing with the nightmare that jeongguk is on a critical state.

don't leave me. don't die.

the thought of jeongguk dying made haine's legs tremble in despair, the pair found themselves falling on the ground. haine couldn't help but let herself cry too, hands slowly descending on the man's trembling frame, she fought the urge to bawl. wanting to stay strong even in this time, she knew that even if she cried herself and make tantrums, nothing would change.

"who is the patient's guardian?" yoongi stiffened, slowly composing himself and moving away from haine as he stood up, settling haine on one of the seats.

yoongi faced the person and timidly spoke, "i-i'm the patient's guardian"

"i'm jung jinyoung and i was the one who operated the patient, i came here to tell you that the operation went well. we were able to stitch him up on all of his wounds but he might be in a deep sleep for a couple of days. we don't know yet when he'll open his eyes as it will all depend on how fast his recovery strength is"

haine was holding a breathe inside her, she didn't know if she should have felt relieved or whatnot. yes, jeongguk was already out of the critical state but he wasn't awake yet and as much as she didn't want to overthink things, she was afraid.

will he ever wake up?

a week has passed.

a week has passed and even a slight movement from jeongguk ceased to happen.

time went by so painfully fast and haine was growing more and more impatient the longer it gets for jeongguk to wake up. every day, haine wouldn't fail to visit the man even if she was busy herself from juggling her modeling career, promoting her album and tending to the twins. the woman would always find ways to visit and everytime she did, there was always this hopeful feeling of seeing him awake.

she was always hopeful of even having a glimpse of those beautiful brown orbs and his bunny smile.

and even if it was almost 2:30 in the midnight, her body being sore from all of today's activities and hadn't even slept a wink, here she was – sitting on the stool beside the sleeping man as her eyes couldn't help but pool with tears while she gently caress the man's brownish-black soft locks.

yoongi was supposed to be right beside her, but everytime haine arrives at jeongguk's ward at an ungodly hour the man would leave as if he just wanted to let the two be on their own. yoongi seemed to be precise to leave the two even for just a mere hours and even if, jeongguk was still in deep sleep.

he ships the pair.

"kookie"

the voice that came out of her lips were quite broken and yearning.

"please . . . wake up, ne?"

breathing ragged, she'd dragged the words for almost the umpteenth time. it was like a routine now, she would seat on the stool, her eyes would trail on his sleeping angelic features until she realized that oh yeah, it's morning? before she knew it, she had spent the entire night crying her eyes while memories of them together flooded her mind like an uncontrollable whirlpool.

but, who could blame her?

she loves him . . . so so much but why?

why must everything go wrong?

"i—i miss you"

the words that she badly didn't want to admit escaped in her lips. haine was afraid, for so many years she was afraid to admit of how she truly felt, she was afraid that once she let the words slip on her mouth she would start yearning to meet the boy.
