You see his face hovering above you, grinning madly. Your whole body has gone numb. He gets up to leave. “No more boyfriend to protect you,” he says gruffly with a sick smile. “Then again, he never protected you in the first place. He never could protect you.”

You scream, but no sound comes out.

“Stupid boy,” the byuntae sneers. “Why trust the word of a criminal?”

He leans forward, bending down towards you again.

You sit up with a yelp and look around. He’s gone. There is no pervert; the only one in the room is you. You realize it was only a dream and close your eyes. Something falls onto your hand, and you realize that you are crying. You sniff and rub your eyes.

“Aish,” you sigh. Your lip starts to tremble as you think about the past three days. In the past three days, your life had been ruined. You had been raped by a complete psycho, your angel of a boyfriend had been blamed, and you were forever scarred by something you had no control over. You had wanted to wait to give yourself to Sehun because you loved him. But your purity had been taken by someone entirely different, and you were stained.

You get up and reach for the phone, anger welling up inside you. You dial the police and wait for someone to answer. As the phone rings, your confidence shatters. You hear the byuntae’s voice echoing in your mind. “If you tell anyone, I’ll kill you.” He had returned the day after Sehun had been imprisoned.

“Yobuseyo?” The operator answers. “What is your emergency?”

You hesitate and close your eyes. Did you have the courage? My boyfriend was wrongfully accused. I will never be able to take back my virginity. The byuntae says he’ll kill me if I tell. You take a deep breath. Your hands are shaking.

“Ma’am?” The operator asks. “Is someone there? Yobuseyo?”

“Ne,” you say quietly as if that pervert was listening. “Please help me…”

“Oh Sehun!” An officer shouts along the corridor of cells. Sehun puts his book down and stands up, going to the bars.

“Ne?” Sehun answers, looking out.

A big, dark-skinned police officer approaches him. “Stand away from the door.”

“Ne.” Sehun obediently backs away from the door.

The officer opens the door and pulls Sehun out by his arm. “Come on.” Sehun stays quiet as the officer leads him down the hallway.

“Officer, what’s going on?” Sehun asks.

“You’re being released,” the officer mumbles. “Your girlfriend called the police and told everything.” The man in uniform glances up at Sehun. “You’re lucky that you’re not being punished for lying under oath. Even if it was to protect her.”

Relief washes over Sehun. “I’m being released?” He echoes. His relief is quick to vanish as he remembers the byuntae’s threat. “Has the actual culprit been caught?”

“No. But your jagi explained everything, and a watch will be posted around your house to make sure nothing happens.” The officer’s lips barely curve up. “Your clothes are in the bathroom. I bet you’re tired of wearing orange.”

Sehun bows thankfully and runs into the bathroom. His heart pounds. I’m going to see _____! Even though it had only been about a week, it felt like months since he had seen you or touched you or heard your voice. He had almost driven himself crazy until one of the other inmates gave him a book and told him to ‘shut the hell up’.

A heavy knock came on the door. “Hurry up! Your ride leaves in two minutes, and if you’re not leaving with them, you get to waste more time and space here.”

“Ne!” Sehun answers in affirmative, too excited. He yanks his normal clothes on and hurries out the door.

The officer chuckles and shakes his head. “Your shirt’s on backwards. I guess you’re decent enough, though. Come on, boy. You don’t deserve to be in a place like this.” He guides Sehun outside where a patrol car is waiting.

“Sehun-ah,” The officer calls. Sehun turns around. The officer’s eyes meet his. “Be careful.”

Sehun smiles. “Ne.”

You jump as the door opens, and you hear a voice you had wanted to hear for the past week…and yet you were afraid to hear it. “Jagiya? _______, are you here?”

Still, you can’t help but jump up and wrap your arms around him. “Sehun-ah!” You bury your face in the crook of his neck.

His arms constrict around you, but he pulls away and presses a gentle kiss to your lips. His eyes meet yours. “Hi,” he says with a subtle smile. “How have you been? Have you eaten yet?”

Your eyes fill with tears, and you shove him away. “Why did you lie?!” You shout angrily at him. You run towards him and beat against his chest with your fists. Tears pour down your cheeks. “Why? Why did you tell them you did it?”

He grabs your wrists and pulls you against him, stroking your hair. You sob openly into his chest, and he holds you. “I’m sorry,” he murmurs. “I’m sorry.”

“Why did you come back here?” You whisper.

He tilts your chin up with a startled expression. “Bwo?”

“Why did you come back to me?” You ask tearfully. “I’m not…I can’t…” You take a deep breath and lean your forehead against his chest. “I’m not the same. I wanted to give everything to you, Sehun. I wanted you to be my first…” you trail off and take another shaky breath. You’re probably going to cry again. “But I’m not… He took something from me. Something that I can never take back. I wanted to give it to you, but now…”

“_____,” Sehun says softly. He leans his forehead against yours. “Why wouldn’t I come back to you? I’m sorry. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to protect you. I’m sorry I got there too late to save your virginity.”

He swallows, betraying some of his emotions. “I came back because, no matter how long it takes, I will earn your love again. Eventually, once you are comfortable with it, I will be able to kiss you without being afraid of stirring bad memories. And I will erase all of the marks he left and replace them with my own.”

“Sehun-ah,” you breathe.

“I love you, ______,” He says with a gentle expression. He leans forward and kisses you so tenderly that you think he’s afraid he’ll break you. “There’s nothing on this earth that would stop me from loving you. I was stupid to believe the word of a byuntae, and I’m sorry that you had to suffer. I promise that, if you’ll let me, I will take away your suffering and give you the love that you deserve.”
