Aphmau's POV

I drop my head and try to hold back the tears.

Zoey.....

I hear my lawyer faintly call out an objection.

I also heard a fist come into a table. 

I look up to see my lawyer standing up, calm but angry. 

Aaron on the other hand, was enraged. His nostrils were flaming.

My lawyer stood up and stated. "They lost their child due to a miscarriage, this has nothing to do with the case."

"Very sorry Ms.Phoenix, can we continue?" He apologizes. 

I nod my head and wipe away my tears. Aaron sat down slowly, a tear outlining his cheek.

"He left to protect us, so we wouldn't be hurt by Scaren, he sacrificed his freedom of choice to his father in order to keep us safe, that's pretty committed to me" I say, my eyes irritated by tears.

My eyes weren't the only things irritated.

"No further questions" The opposing lawyer said as he returned to his table.

They said I could come off the stand.

Lilth's aunt had been eyeing me from the moment I stepped into court.

Now she looks, sad almost like she felt guilty.

Why did he have to bring up Zoey?

I walked, solemnly to my seat. 

The minute I sat down, Aaron pulled me into his chest. 

My sobs where muffled by his suit. 

It was a rented one.

The tears were worth it.

They asked Katelyn to come onto the stand, they apparently didn't need to talk to Aaron.

My lawyer stood up and walked over to Katelyn.

"Ms. Firefist, you are one of Aphmau's oldest friends,is this right?" My lawyer asks, her hands gesturing towards me. 

I had looked up from Aaron to Katelyn.

"Yes" She answers, her poker face on.

"You have been there since the beginning of Aaron and Aphmau's relationship and when they took care of Lilth, yes?"

"Yes, and may I say something?" Katelyn asked. 

The judge nods.

"Yes I have been there since the beginning and what I have to say is, you all must have seen tv shows and movies where you see actors pretend to be in love..."

"Pretend to show love to make our hearts ache."

She continues.

"Those shows never even made me feel sad, let alone tear up over their sweet relationships."

She then turned to us.

"Then I saw Aaron and Aphmau together....." 

"They have the love you wish you could have." 

"They have a bond you wished you have seen before." 

"They have a love story you only dream about."

"When I saw Lilth come into their lives, it got a hundred times better." 

"I would purposely stop by their window on the way home to just admire the happy family."

"If I could have a certain type of love, I wouldn't have the type that was written by a professional or faked by actors."

"The type of love I would have with someone, is the love that this sophomore has with a college student, with a endless giggling baby girl in between them"

I was softly tearing up, Aaron was grasping my hand, tight.

"So yes, I have been there since the beginning, I have seen this family take form.....and it has sadly lost a piece recently..."

Aaron grasped my hand tighter.  

"I don't think they are ready to lose another." She responded. 

Katelyn.....

The opposing lawyer had nothing to say. 

The jury left the court room to make a decision. 

Katelyn came off the stand and sat behind us. 

When she sat down, both Aaron and I turned around to thank her. 

She just smiled and put a finger to her lips.

We turned back around, staring back ahead of us.

Aaron laced his fingers through mine.

The jury piled back into the room.

This is it.
