Interviewing dharris0101
1. When did you join WattPad?
I joined Wattpad in June of 2012. It was an extreme recommendation of my sister's so I had to check it out. I was more of a fan of actual physical books before, but now I'll read anything my eyes can find.
2. What are your motivations for writing?
My motivation is the readers and my own drive to create something special and share it with them.
3. Who would you like to see playing a character in your book?
Ok. This is going to be weird, but I honestly don't see people playing my characters. Why? You may ask. Well one time I was reading a book on the Wattpad it was a great book. I had everything mapped out in my mind. What the characters looked like, the setting and all that jazz. Then I went online and stumbled across the cast that the author had assigned to the characters and I was... disappointed? They didn't match what I had in my mind and I couldn't get back into the groove of the book after seeing it. So that's why I never see anyone playing my characters. Some people cast themselves as the protagonist when they read stories and that's cool. I just like to describe a picture/scenario and let the reader paint it how they think it should be. Makes it more fun I think.
4. Why do you write?
Multiple reasons and it's hard to just dwindle them down. First off, my sister thinks I'm crazy (sometimes I think she's right). So she told me I should start writing a story. Secondly, I was going through a lot when I finally started writing 6 months ago. I couldn't control the world around me so I created a world that I could control. But lastly, and I guess most importantly is that I would read stories by people like Kirsty Mosley and Makeandoffer and think it must feel great to have people on edge waiting for your next chapter. It's got to feel rewarding when those number climb and when the readers get engaged and learn to love the characters the way the writer does. I wanted that....so I started writing.
5. What is the hardest thing about writing?
If you cracked open my mind. You'd find two things 1) the circus which symbolizes all the ideas yet to be organized and 2) the monkey with the symbol constantly clanking which indicates how crazy all those ideas are. So the hardest thing about writing is picking an idea. While writing my first story Side Swiped I wrote down the first chapter to about 20 stories because I would think of it and be like...no! That doesn't go with this story. I'm a mess.
6. Favorite Author?
On Wattpad? It's a tie between Kirsty Moseley, Makeandoffer, and Trewest.
Published authors... it's hard to say. Emily Bronte, Jane Austen, and Suzanne Collins.
7. Favorite book?
The bible. It's got all the answers and all the stories you could ever wish for. War, love, lust, betrayal, forgiveness, happiness...all that!
8. If you could change one thing about you, what would it be?
I'd like to be more focused. Sometimes it feels like my attention span lasts about as long as a... Hey, I'm Dionne. Lol.
9. Favorite song at the moment?
My favorite song right now is definitely Partition from Beyoncé's new CD, that and The Drift by Blackmill.
10. Favorite TV show at the moment?
TV shows are on a role these days. There are way too many to choose from, but definitely Scandal and Revenge. Hands down.
11. What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?
Remember the earlier question where I said my sister thinks I'm crazy, well she probably got it from these two things, where I didn't necessarily prove that I was sane.
First thing. When I little I used to think I believed that I could turn off all the lights in the world, by... (Ready yourself) closing my eyes.
Second thing. I thought that midgets lived in the stop lights and that they controlled them. When the light turned red before we got through, I thought that particular midget didn't like us for the day...
12. If you could spend the day with any celebrity, who would it be?
I would spend the day with Bill Gates. I'm going to school for computer engineering and Mr. Gates is basically the best there is, so I would definitely want to spend time with someone who is where I want to be one day.
13. 3 things you cannot live without?
God, family, spontaneity.
14. What's your favorite holiday?
Christmas! Christmas by a long shot. I love everything about Christmas. Spending time with family. Decorating the tree. The smell of ginger bread cookies. Gift wrapping. And hot chocolate. SO MUCH HOT CHOCOLATE. Giving gifts. And it's Jesus' birthday!
15. Pirates or Ninjas?
Ninja Pirates. The world would never be the same. O.O
16. Favorite Cartoon?
Archer. They need to hurry up and come out with the next season. I'm growing crazy impatient.
17. List 3 of your worst personality traits:
I don't think people have bad personality traits. We just have characteristics that make us who we are. I like me.
18. Name 1 thing you miss about being a kid:
The freedom of cares. As a kid we know everything is going to be taken care of so you don't have any other cares other than enjoying life.
19. Favorite Cereals?
Raisin Bran Crunch!! It's like a drug to me.
20. Which would you rather have, 100 million dollars or true love?
True love. Money isn't everything.
