Interviewing Goodgirlie
1. HI :) How are you? How was your day?
I’m doing pretty well. Thanks for asking. My day is busy as all ways. Classes then work later.
2. When and how did you join WattPad?
I joined Wattpad on April 12, 2012, because I love to read. At the time I didn’t have the time or money to feed my addiction of reading. So I typed in free stories on my phone, hoping to find a cool app so I could read. That lead me to Wattpad and the rest is history.
3. What are your motivations for writing?
My followers. The ones who comment about how a certain character or chapter made their day. Even when I don’t want to write, those votes and comments put me in the mood to do so. Also when I feel sad or bad about something I write in order to escape to the world I created. In a world where you sometimes don’t have control over everything, it’s nice to escape to someplace where you can.
4. Who would you like to see playing a character in your book?
My main character is named Alexia Miller. She’s a young Black American nurse, who’s short with dimples. I would love for Lauren London to play her. Whenever I think of someone famous with dimples I think of her and Mario Lopez. I couldn’t obviously get Mario to play a girl. (Even though he’s pretty enough lol). To play Jordan Banks, her cop love interest, I’d get Matt Kemp to play him. He’s hot and that’s all the explanation I need –Haha. To play Cameron Deverioux one her admirers and patients, I’d get Will Demps to play him. Just because he’s so pretty ;).
5. What is the easiest thing about writing?
The easiest thing about writing is hitting the publish button, once a chapter is all finished. I’m kind of a perfectionist, so I will literally spend hours on end, re-reading the same thing over and over again. Just to ensure that it’s worthy of the readers time.
6. Do you think that the cover plays an important part in books?
O’ YEAH!!!! I sometimes won’t give a book a second look if the cover isn’t good. First impressions are everything and as a writer I know I want to catch the reader’s attention. Without that, it’ll be extremely difficult to get readers.
7. Do you have a favorite saying?
Not really. I say, “Excellent” a lot. Not sure if that’s what you meant. I mean I don’t have like quotes that I say to get me through the day or anything like that. So yea… :)
8. Where can you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully, almost finished with Medical School and searching for a hospital to hone my skills in. Maybe married with kids. Who can say? Lol
9. Have you done anything you regret?
I could go with the route of, “No…my mistakes made me who I am. I wouldn’t change a thing.” That is true, but there are plenty of things I would’ve done had I known what I know now. I would tell that guy in sophomore year of high school that I liked him, before I moved. I would’ve gone to Community College before a University. I would have hugged my aunt one last time before she lost her battle with cancer. I would have saved more money instead buying that bagel this morning – Woulda…Coulda…Shoulda Haha
10. What is your greatest fear?
The wrath of the Lord, Spiders, and losing any of my loved ones. In that order.
11. When/Who was your first crush?
I had two first crushes, both in the first grade. I actually “dated” both of them at the same time. Well, more like held hands with both of them. At different times of the day of course. I guess I was a little heartbreaker back them. Not so much now…still single, and concentrating on school.
12. If you could change one thing about you, what would it be?
Speaking honestly, I wish I was more comfortable in my own skin. I can’t look in the mirror without wishing this or that was different. Then again, what girl isn’t like that? I just wish we could be confident in whom we are, and not late the haters dim our light. (I know: corny, but true)
13. Favorite song at the moment?
Goodness that is extremely hard to narrow down. I guess it’s a tie between Ellie Goulding’s “Burn” and The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather”.
14. Vacation destination?
Anywhere that’s warm. I’d love to visit Chicago, Las Vegas, and Hawaii though.
15. Would you rather be ugly and marry a good looking person or be good looking and marry an ugly person?
Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I’d rather marry the good looking person. If they marry me then I guess I’m not as ugly as I thought lol. So long as we’re happy, that’s all that matters to me.
16. Would you rather, speak any language fluently or be able to talk to animals?
Speak any language fluently!!!! That would be soooo cool. I would be able to talk to everybody.
17. If you could be any cartoon character, which character would you be?
I would be either Super Woman or Betty Boop. Both are sexy, beautiful, and independent female characters. Great qualities, if you ask me.
18. Tea or Coffee?
Hot Chocolate? Can I say that? If I have to choose, I’ll go with tea.
19. What's your favorite holiday?
Christmas for sure. That’s the one time of the year that I can get together with family, eat, and play. The best part is watching them enjoy gifts that I took the time to pick out just for them. And then seeing them using it later in the year – best feeling.
20. If you could steal one thing without consequence what would it be?
Speaking honestly, I’m not a good thief. I would probably tell on myself before I got to enjoy the fruits of my labor. But I guess I would steal something like diamonds or gold. Then use the money to help my family pay off some bills, and help rebuild my community. O and let’s not forget pay off some of the college loans.
