Chapter 22

Sara's POV
It's the middle of the night and I can't sleep.
I get up to go grab a glass of water when I hear a "mommy?".
I enter the girls room and see Eve's awake.
"What is it big girl?" I ask her.
"I forgot to give mommy my present's list for Christmas.."
"It's ok baby!" I say tucking her back in bed. "You'll give her the list tomorrow.." I kiss her forehead.
Eve grabs my hand.
"Momma?" She asks.
"Yes.."
"I really wanted a bike for Christmas but I don't want to ask for it because it's expensive and Poppy asks for so much that I don't want mommy spending much money.."
I smile and lay down next to her with my head close to hers.
"You know what? Sometimes when we do good things for our brothers and sisters they do good things to us. I think you're very sweet to not ask for what you wanted the most because you rather give your sister the opportunity to get the big presents. And you know what? Maybe, just maybe, baby Jesus will hear you and give you a bike, because you're such a sweet girl"
"Really?" Eve asks.
"Yes! Now it's time for bed!" I say sitting up.
"Sweet dreams baby girl!" I kiss Eve's forehead and stand up.
"Love you momma!" Eve whispers and I mouth "love you" as I head out the door.
I pass Luke's room and go inside.
As I sit on his bed he wakes up.
"What is it momma?" He asks laying on my lap.
"Nothing.." I say stroking his hair.
"Grown up problems?" He asks.
"Yes.. Grown up problems.." I say.
"Anything I can do?" He says looking up at me.
"No buddy.. It's just.."
"Life.." He interrupts. I smile.
"Yes! It's just life.." I say.
I get up and walk out, stoping by the door and looking back at Luke.
"What ever happens, I just want you to know that I love you!" I say.
Luke looks confused but nods.
"I love you too momma!"
A tear falls down my face and I exit the room.
I get dressed and prepare lunches for the kids and Jessica tomorrow before I head out to go for a run.

Jessica's POV
"What? What about the show?" I ask her.
"Shonda said she's been planning for one of us to leave for a while so.."
"What about us? The house? The kids?"
"What about it? It's just some time, I need this time.."
"Well what about me? Should I even wait for you?" Jess asks.
I kiss her on the lips.
"I'll be thinking of you!" I say and I pick Poppy up.
"Momma is leaving for a while so you have to be good to mommy ok?" I ask the kids.
"When are you coming back?", "where are you going?" The kids ask.
"Momma, I going too!" Poppy says.
"No.. You're staying here with mommy!" I say and look at Jess.
She has her eyes full of tears.
She takes Poppy from my arms. "Till Christmas. I'm going to wait until Christmas, after that I'm moving on and so are the kids!" Jess says.
I nod and kiss each of the kids.
"You're in charge of the girls now ok? You make sure they are ok! And if anything big happens.." I turn him.
I give him a card with a number.
"You call me ok? Don't give this number to anyone, even mom! This is our number, just me and you ok? But just call if something big happens ok?" I ask him.
"Will you come? If I call?" Luke asks taking the paper.
"Maybe! Just take care of our girls for me ok? Don't let them cry too much!" I say.
"Then you don't cry too much either momma!" Luke says whipping the treats I didn't know where falling of my face.
"I won't buddy!" I say and kiss his forehead.
I walk to my suitcase and grab the handle.
I put an arm around Jess and kiss her forehead.
"So I guess this is goodbye.." Jess says.
"Here.." I take out my necklaces do put on her neck. "So you'll never feel alone.." I say.
"Here.." Jess takes out her ring. "So you always have a part of me with you".
I take mine out and put it in her ring finger. "So you'll never forget me.."
I kiss her one last time and we both cry, foreheads leaning against each other.
I kiss her forehead and then walk out the door.
