A/N: Oh my God, Part 50 in this book. Wow, I have unlimited ideas. . .

The Memories - Part I
It's been months since the Volturi visited, and everything has been peaceful. Too peaceful for Jasper's liking. It reminded him of the days before they met Bella, when it was just quiet and everyone wasn't in danger. Now that everything with Renesme and Bella being a vampire was sorted, it's been peaceful. Which meant more memories.
Jasper would get small glimpses of memories from his human days. It would be from a small snippet of a beautiful field, to a baby girl, to a full-grown woman. He's always see a woman's smile though. Or he'd hear a woman's light laugh. It frustrated him greatly. Like, was it his mother? Who was the baby? Did he have a baby sister? Jasper then thought of his study room that was full of books on the Civil War. Maybe if he looked at the section about him, it would tell him the information he needed. Jasper wondered why he never thought of that until now. When getting the books, he'd just skim through his section without actually reading it, thinking he already knew stuff about him already.
He jumped down from the tree and ran with his speed into his study. He used his speed to look at the spines of the books, finding the ones that mentioned him.
He sat in his study with the total of twenty books in his arms, and went reading.

Hours later. . .
Everyone had gathered at home after their eventful day, except Jasper. They were all wondering where he was, Alice especially. "Where is he?" Bella asked Edward. Edward looked in the distance, finding Jasper's mind. He found him in his study, reading book after book, frustration evident in his thoughts.
"He's. . .reading." Edward answered. "He's looking for something."

"No. . .nope. . .not it. . .that isn't it. . .come on, there has to be something."

"What are you looking for?" Edward murmured. Sure, Jasper liked to read, but reading and not even acknowledging his family was concerning. It must be something important.
"I'm going to check on him." Alice announced, making her way to Jasper's study, Edward and Carlisle close behind. "Jazz?" Alice knocked on the door and entered, Edward and Carlisle following. They stared at the mess in his study; books were sprawled out on the ground -some open at random pages- and Jasper was sitting on the ground surrounded by it all, a pile of books at his side to be read. If they didn't know any better, they would have thought he was doing something religious or trying to make magic. Jasper had his eyebrows furrowed in concentration, flicking page after page using his speed. He didn't acknowledge them.

"Come on, I'm close. . .I have to be. . ."

"Jasper." Edward spoke up, authority in his voice. Jasper turned his gaze to the three. "What are you doing?" he motioned to the mess. "What are you looking for?"
Jasper looked around as if just realising the mess he created. "How long have you been doing this?" Carlisle asked concerned.
"What time is it?" Jasper asked them, standing up.
"It's six o'clock now." Alice told him. Jasper glanced to his watch.
"I've been going through my books for roughly seven hours since Edward, Bella, Renesme and Jacob left for Charlie's place." Jasper explained.
"Why?" Alice asked him concerned. "Have you drank?"
"Before I started all this, yes." Jasper nodded. Alice stared at him with a frown. "Why?"
"Jasper, what are you doing?" Carlisle asked him. "I come back early from work and see everyone in the living room catching up except you. You've been all cooped up in here. Why don't you go down to the living room for a while, okay? And then you can come back in here."
"Okay, just hang on -" Jasper quickly bent down and grabbed the pile of books that were waiting to be read, and exited the room. The three stared at each other perplexed.
