The Assassin Part I

"I need your help." Lestrade sighed, chucking Sherlock a case file of a person on his desk. Sherlock snorted at his comment.

"When aren't you needing my help," Sherlock muttered, grabbing the file. John hid his grin at Sherlock's retort. Lestrade smiled dryly.

"This one is different." Lestrade said. Sherlock rolled his eyes.

Heard that one before, he thought, opening the file.

"She's an assassin. A well-trained assassin. Many times the federal people have tried to get her -even Mycroft tried- but she's always two steps ahead or something."

"How long have you been trying to get her?" John asked curiously, trying to peer over Sherlock's form at the files.

"For a while. She killed one of those very successful lawyers. John Stevens, his name was." Lestrade handed John the file on John Stevens since Sherlock was still looking through the other file.

"He was a bad lawyer anyway." Sherlock waved off. "Drug addict, cheater, and was selling important information on criminals to terrorists. Honestly, she was doing a favour for us."

"She only killed him because he didn't give her client his money." Lestrade corrected. John frowned at his words. "We need your help to find her. You got Ricoletti for us; you can get her."

"Who is she anyway?" John asked him.

"Desylia Malcolm." Lestrade and Sherlock said at the same time. Sherlock snapped the file closed and handed it to John to read.

"We'll have her by the end of this week." Sherlock promised. Sherlock then frowned. "She looks familiar." he mumbled. "I probably deleted it."

"You find this woman familiar?" John raised his eyebrows at the picture of Desylia Malcolm. She was a blonde woman with emerald green eyes, her face showing nothing but innocence. But looking at her records, it says otherwise. "At first glance, she would be one of those women you can't get with them being so innocent and just out of your league," John commented. He frowned at the information given to him. "There's no history of her; what school she went to, her family - nothing. This is only the people she killed or have become acquainted with."

"Yeah." Lestrade pursed his lips. "It seems she deleted herself from the world."

"No matter," Sherlock waved off, "like always, John and I will get her - well, me. John just tags along to write it up on his blog." John rolled his eyes at what Sherlock said, knowing it was a lie and John actually does help on the cases.

"Right!" Sherlock started making his way out of Lestrade's office with Desylia Malcolm's file. "We'll be in touch!"

***

Sherlock and John chased after her on top of the roofs of buildings, her being only a couple of blocks ahead. "We almost have her!" Sherlock exclaimed with glee, glancing down at the ground at the sound of police sirens, then glancing up at the sound of a helicopter. John had to pull him to the side before Sherlock could run straight into an air vent.

"Pay attention!" John snapped through his pants. "She's getting away!"

"Right!" Sherlock nodded, chasing after her again, leaving John behind this time. The chase continued for a while, much to his amusement, when finally, she made a mistake and jumped down on the roof she was on, which led to a dead end.

Sherlock smirked in triumph and followed her down. He watched as she looked around, trying to find a way out. She turned to him with fury in her eyes, pulling out her gun. She aimed at him, and then pulled the trigger, though nothing happened. Sherlock gave her a small smug smile. "No more bullets, I see." he noted. He then watched as she tried to find her throwing knives. "Or knives - or for that matter, any weapons thanks to me. Don't you remember earlier? You basically wasted your weapons on my friend and me." He took a step towards her. "You have nowhere to go. You're done for."
