Sighing, I smooth out my beautiful dress and look into the mirror to cheek my look again. Suddenly, my phone rings, signalling that I got a message.

From Cal♡:
Once again, I'm so sorry that I won't be able to be there tonight, princess. I'll make it up to you, I promise. Love you :)

I sigh again and throw my phone onto my bed without answering. I know that his team's match against Chelsea is important, but my prom is important, too, isn't it? I quickly shake my head to forget about this; he won't come and I have to accept that.
I take one last look into the mirror and put on my best smile, before going down the stairs, where my best friend and her boyfriend are waiting for me. "You're finally ready?" My best friend asks chuckling and takes her boyfriend's hand. "Yes, I'm ready to go." I reply and pull a loose strand of hair behind my ear. "You look amazing, Y/N. Calum's bad that he can't see you like this." She commented after looking me up and down. "You two look great, too." I say as we walk towards the car.
As we arrive at the building our prom will take place in, we can already hear the music from the inside and see hundreds of people taking pictures of themselves and their date. Sadly, I won't have one of this pictures. A lot of guys from school asked me to be their date, but I thought that it'd be weird to go to prom with one of them since I'm dating Calum for more than 2 years. At the entrance, a picture of everyone gets taken and since I don't have a date to let one be taken with, I just hurry into the big hall. I greet a few people and then go to search for a free table. As I sit down a girl from my grade comes up to me. "Poor girl, did you find nobody to come here with?" She asks as she fakes a sad look. I just smile at her and gesture towards her group of friends. "Why don't you go back to your loser friends?"
She shoots me one last angry glare and walks towards her friends again. A few minutes later, one of my friends, who also asked me to be his date, comes up to me. "Hey, Y/N. Why are you sitting here alone? Where's your boyfriend?" He asks and hands me a drink. "Thanks." I reply and take a sip of the drink. "He couldn't come." I add and try to not sound too disappointed. "But that doesn't mean that you have to sit here alone. There are hundreds of boys who would love to dance with you, including me." He says and smirks at me, making me slightly giggle. "C'mon, dance with me." He says and stretches his hand out for me. "Okay, okay." I reply and let him guide me to the dance floor.
After a few dances, a few drinks and a lot of fun, my ex-boyfriend suddenly comes up to me. "Can I have this dance?" He asks. I quickly nod and put my drink down. After half of the song, I feel someone touch my shoulder and I turn around to see a smiling Calum Chambers in front of me, dressed in a suit. "Cal, what are you doing here?" I shriek and literary jump into his arms with a big smile on my face. "Did you really think I wouldn't try everything to come?" He says and wraps his arms around me. "I couldn't miss this important day in your life, princess." He adds and slowly leans down to kiss me.
"Thanks so much, Cal. I'm so happy." I say after we break apart. "That's the most important thing for me." He whispers in my ear. I take his hand and quickly guide him to a table, so that we can talk. "Do you want to drink something?" He asks me, but I shake my head. "I already had some drinks, but I can get one for you." I reply. "I'm fine." He says and leans towards me to plant a kiss on my cheek.
"How did the game end?" I ask after a short moment of silence. "We won 2-0 and I even scored." He says proudly. "Wow, that's great. I would have loved to watch it." I comment and take his hand. "But how were you able to get here this fast?" I ask, making him laugh. "We didn't celebrate that long and I asked Alex to hurry up and drive me to your school." He answers and I giggle at the thought of Calum standing in the changing room dressed in his suit, telling Alex to hurry up. "But enough about me now. Do you want to dance?" Calum asks and already stands up. "Of course." I reply and let him guide me to the dance floor.
A slow song comes on, so we just wrap our arms tightly around each other and swing to the music. "Whenever I look around, all of these guys are starring at you." Calum states after looking around the dance floor. "No need to get jealous, Cal." I giggle. "Yeah, I know because luckily, I'm the one who gets to take you home." He cheekily says, making me playfully slap his arm. "Why should I go home with you?" I reply and show him a smirk. He puts one of his hands on my cheek and looks directly into my eyes, before saying:" Because you can't resist my charm, love and you completely fall for me." "I think you think a bit too high of yourself." I state. "I don't think so, love because I know you love me." Calum replies making me giggle again. "I gotta admit that you're right, Calum." I say, making him triumphantly smile. "I knew you'd say that." He says and grins at me. "Why are you so cheeky today?" I ask and pull him a bit closer to hear his answer. "I'm just kidding, love. You know that I love you." He whispers and pulls me in for another kiss.
And of course, he was the one that got to take me home that night.
