CHAPTER 24

“What does this make us now?” I asked Andrew, finally pulling away.

“This makes us a couple in my book. Yours?” he asked.

I nodded and smiled, “That's perfect.”

“It better be,” he teased, then paused, “Go pack a bag.”

“What?” I stared at him, confused.

“The house feels empty without you there. Please?” he begged.

I laughed but said, “Okay.”

“Thank you!”

I went to pack a bag. He told me to bring enough clothes for the whole weekend so I did. We drove to his house, with the radio on, of course. It played “Lead Me To The Cross,” Francesca Battistelli's version, “Savior I come

Quiet my soul remember

Redemption's hill

Where Your blood was spilled

For my ransom

Everything I once held dear

I count it all as lost

Lead me to the cross

Where Your love poured out

Bring me to my knees

Lord I lay me down

Rid me of myself

I belong to You

Lead me, lead me to the cross

You were as I

Tempted and trialed

The word became flesh

Bore my sin and death

Now you're risen

To your heart

To your heart

Lead me to your heart

Lead me to your heart.”

“I love this song,” I told Andrew.

“You love every song on this station,” he told me. I was shocked at how he could know such a thing but smiled anyway.

“True,” I said.

The next song that came on was called “Lay Down My Life” by the Sidewalk Prophets. I had heard this song too and smiled when I recognized it after 3 seconds of it played, “All your pain

Will be made mine

All your troubles

The tears you cry

Give it up

All that binds

I will place it on my shoulders

And up this hill I’ll climb

Father, give me strength

I know there is no other way

I lay down my life for you

This is the moment when all will be made new

I know that you don’t understand

But this is part of a greater plan

So I lay down my life for you

This is love

That had to bleed

To bring you mercy

To set you free

You are mine

I am yours

And I will wear your burdens

Just like this crown of thorns

I will take your place

I know there is no other way

I lay down my life for you

This is the moment when all will be made new

I know that you don’t understand

But this is part of a greater plan

And I lay down my life for you

Give me all your pride

Give me all your fears

Give me all your secrets

Give me all your tears

Give me all you doubt

Give me all your shame

Watch them wash away

Watch them wash away

Give me all your pride

Give me all your fears

Give me all your secrets

Give me all your tears

Give me all you doubt

Give me all your shame

Watch them wash away

In Jesus’ name

I lay down my life for you

This is the moment when all will be made new

I know that you don’t understand

But this is part of a greater plan

And I lay down my life for you

Though I know that you don’t understand

These scars are part of a greater plan

And I lay down my life for you

Arms stretched out

Upon this tree

To show true love

To set you free.”

It was also a very powerful song. It really spoke to me. Those powerful songs were my favorites, well, those and the really fast paced ones.

We picked Oliver up and he drove us back to his house. Andrew made us spaghetti for dinner and I had never been so happy in my life. I had been fooling myself before, thinking I was happy, when in reality all I had ever been was content. Now I was happy and I hoped that it stayed this way forever.

In my nightly prayers I said, “Thank You, God, for this wonderful day. And thank You for me finally being happy. I wasn't happy before because I didn't feel complete. I feel complete now. Thank You so very much for that. Amen.”
