I tried to struggle out of his grasp, but my captor was strong.

"Let me go!" I yelled.

"ANSWER THE QUESTION FIRST!" He boomed, pushing the sword closer to my throat.

"Listen, it's your fault for leaving the door unlocked. You're just lucky that it wasn't a Shadow Knight who found this place!" I scolded.

"You're really testing my patience......." He said, moving the sword closer and closer.

"Chris, what's going- CHRIS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I heard a female voice cry.

I tried my best to see the person whom the voice belonged to. I saw a girl standing behind my captor. Her short brown hair spiraled into small, wavy curls on each shoulder. Her emerald eyes shot daggers at the boy who had pinned me down. A green scarf danced around her neck, in between the two curls of hair. A dark green sweater lay underneath the scarf, and a pair of green boots were on her feet. Her black pants were covered in dust, but so was everything else in this place.

"She just broke in! What else was I supposed to do?" He asked.

"To be fair, the door wasn't locked." I said.

"PUT A SOCK IN IT! WHO ARE YOU?" He yelled!

"CHRIS, CALM DOWN! I'LL TAKE CARE OF HER! GO BACK TO BED!" She screamed back.

He grumbled, and finally let me go. He stormed out of the room, leaving me and the girl alone. I got up, and retrieved my dagger, just in case.

"I'm sorry about Chris. He's got some anger and some trust issues." She said.

"Honestly, with the Shadow Knights running around, who doesn't?" I replied.

She smiled, and extended her right hand for me to shake. "My name is Melody. And yours?"

I shook her hand. "Lexi."

"Nice to meet you Lexi. So, how did you find this place?" She asked.

"Well, I was being chased by a group of Shadow Knights and I hid in the alley. I saw that the door was open, and helped myself in." I said.

Her eyes widened. "What? Are they here? Why were they chasing you?" She asked.

"Calm down." I said. "No, they aren't here. I managed to lose them."

She let out a sigh of relief. "So, why were they after you?"

I wasn't sure if I could trust her, but she seemed more trustworthy than her friend.

"I'd rather not say." I finally replied.

She seemed to understand my hesitation. "Well, your welcome to stay here if you need."

"Thanks." I said. "What is this place?"

"A few friends and I made a shelter here, so we could hide from the Shadow Lord. Why they haven't found this place yet is puzzling, but lucky on our behalf." She said.

Melody led me to a separate room. Sleeping bags were scattered on the floor, and three of them were occupied. A red sleeping bag was occupied by the boy who had threatened to kill me. He was still eyeing me down, with great distrust written on his face. A girl sat in a blue one. She wore a loose blue dress, and a black cape that covered her back and face. Long strands of powder blue hair tumbled out of her hood. Next to her, was a boy in a white sleeping bag. He had shaggy brown hair, and blue eyes trained on the girl beside him. He wore black pants, a grey shirt, and a crescent moon pendant. Two sleeping bags were empty, a pink and a green. Melody sat on the green one, and beckoned me to take the pink. I sat down, and placed my bag in front of me.

"Guys, this is Lexi. Lexi, this is Naomi, Leo, and Chris." She said, pointing to the girl, the boy with the pendant, and my attacker.

Naomi and Leo waved hello. Chris kept glaring at me. I waved back, and opened my bag. I pulled out a needle and thread, and began sewing my clothes.

I had finished stitching my sweater with the pink thread that matched its color, when I heard Leo call to Melody.

"Melody, Naomi says she can't sleep. She wants to know if you could sing a lullaby." He said.

Melody nodded, and began to sing a lovely song. I almost fell asleep, when I noticed that Naomi was shaking. She seemed uneasy, and no lullaby would calm her down.

A lightbulb lit up in my head. I reached into my bag and pulled out a music box. The others looked at me curiously, with Chris seeming shocked.

"Melody, could you sing to this?" I asked.

The music box began to play its tune. Melody sang along, and the harmony she and the box created were able to put Naomi to sleep. I was about to fall asleep to, when I noticed that Chris's face was pale. He was staring at me as if I was a ghost.

"What?" I asked.

He pointed a shaky finger to the music box.

"W-Where did you get that?" He asked, genuine surprise in his voice.

A/N Finally, I have time to write something. It's been a busy week on my end, and I'm happy to get some time alone. And I'm having fun going off on this crazy idea of a story. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need a nap. I always love to see your reactions to these chapters (yes, I read the comments) so leave those in the comments below. Other than that, I'll see you next chapter. Bye /)^3^(\
