"Kelan ka pa dumating?" I asked Eugene, before I put the fries inside my mouth.

"I just arrived. Actually, I came from the airport but I'm starving so I went here. And then I saw you back there at the restaurant. Now I'm here!" Napangiti ako when he did the pogi sign.

Eugene, seemed to be the same after all these years. Una, ginagawa niya pa rin yung pogi sign, tapos ngayon naman ganun pa rin siya kung sumagot--ang haba! Isa lang tanong ko pero ang haba ng sagot niya.

Ganyan siya, dati pa.

"What brings you here? Akala ko for good ka na sa Canada?" That's what he told me before leaving.

"Why, ayaw mo ba ako dito sa Pinas? Nabili mo na ba 'to at bawal na ba ako dito?" Tinaasan niya ako ng kilay habang nakaturo sa 'kin ang fries na hawak niya.

Ow, nagtatagalog pa rin siya! Buti naman. Akala ko sa tagal niya doon sa ibang bansa eh hindi na siya marunong magtagalog.

"Baliw." Inirapan ko nalang siya.

We were 7 years old back then when he and his family migrated to Canada. Na-promote kasi ang daddy niya, ang kaso doon na-assign so lumipad sila papunta dun. After that, we lost communication.

Kaya naman medyo natagalan ako bago ko siya nakilala kanina. Ang layo na ng itsura niya ngayon kesa nung bata siya! Yung iba kasi, lumaki lang eh. Pero siya, talagang nagbago!

"Done checking me?" Nabilaukan ako ng kinakain kong fries dahil sa tanong niya.

Ano ba? Did I just stare at him for that long?

Inabot niya sa akin yung coke float ko, at agad naman akong uminom. Nagiging hobby ko na ang pagiging wala sa sarili. This is not a good thing!

"I see that you've grown into a stunning lady." Seryoso niyang sabi sabay ngiti. Natameme ako sa sinabi niya, pero mabilis kong naramdaman yung pag-init ng mga pisngi ko.

Am I blushing?

Hearing him compliment me felt nostalgic. He loved to praise me and compliment me when we were young. Tandang-tanda ko pa nga kung gaano siya ka-proud sa akin nung natakasan namin yung aso na humabol sa amin nung 5 years old kami.

"Thank you. Ikaw din...ang...gwapo mo."

He's grown, and matured. But still, some features of him remained. He still got that thick eyebrows that made him manly and suited him well. Mas bagay na ito ngayon sakanya. Aside from that, proud na proud pa rin talaga ang ilong niya na present sa kanilang magkakaptid. His nose came from the genes of his British. And course, the lips. The ever sexy and seductive lips.

Talo pa ang lips ng mga babae!

Eugene doesn't have this strong jawline. But rather, a not so pointy chin and enough jaw which I think made him look manly.

In short, he's still that handsome kid that deserved to be called as boy next door. But this time, he has turned into a handsome man, a sure head turner.

"So ano nga, what made you come back here? Are you on vacation?" Most probably.

Pero kasi simula nung umalis sila for Canada, ni minsan hindi siya bumalik dito. Hindis iya umuwi. Kaya bakit ngayon, nandito siya?

"I'll be staying here for good." Napanganga ako sa dineklara niya.

For good? Here? Mukhang nakita niya sa mukha ko ang pagkabigla kaya naman tumango-tango pa siya.
