Y/N's POV
I was SO bored. I had been searching for more people for like two hours, and I'd only come up empty handed. I swam farther and eventually reached another one of the set ups for Sebastian's shop.
I heard talking from above the water. I peeked out and saw a girl talking with Sebastian, they seemed like friends. I just watched until the girl turned around seemingly to leave and saw me.
She let out a yelp and jumped back slightly which I also flinched back at the yelp she let out. I resurfaced seconds after having flinched back. We both just stared at eachother.
I was taking in her appearance and she appeared to be taking in mine as well. Eventually after like three minutes of staring at eachother Sebastian's voice cut the silence, "yall just gonna stare at eachother?" He asked. I pulled myself up more onto the land and the woman seemed to back away at the sight of my gills and body.
In my eyes I wasn't exactly an appealing sight for a human woman. I looked down at her in a curious manner more so than a murderous one. "Sebastian do you know this one?" She asked as she took a step back and appeared to reach for a harpoon on her back in a defensive manner.
I felt a little offended but didn't vocalize it. "Yea that's uh-" he paused to think for a second before looking at me "what is your name again?" He asked me. I slightly scoffed at him forgetting before I replied, "Y/N" I simply said as he turned back to the woman.
She was wearing heavy gear, like someone from the army would wear. She had a harpoon gun strapped to her back, she had pistol holster on both her thighs, and she had a mask covering half of her face. under the holsters and padding I saw some black jeans and a black shirt.
If I had a taste in humans, she'd be that taste with how she looked. She had hazel eyes and brown hair with highlights of orange. She looked muscular with how she was looking at me. I felt weirdly intimidated by her presence even if I could probably kill her if I wanted to.
I then realized I had zoned out entirely while looking over her which I'd started staring at the floor after I'd looked over her entire body twice. I watched her seemingly nod and hum at what Sebastian was saying which I had entirely tuned out. I was pretty sure they were friends.
She seemed to approach me which snapped me out of my thoughts and I lowered back down to only have the top of my head out. I don't know why i did that, but her presence was weird to be around in a oddly good way.
"Can you please get out of the water so I can introduce myself?" She asked, her voice was quiet yet confident and commanding. I felt a weird need to listen to her so I did. I pulled myself out of the water, which she took a step back at. I slithered out to sit on the edge of the land.
She looked over the half of my body that wasn't in the water. I glanced to Sebastian to make sure I wasn't seeming menacing or anything. He was watching her and when we met eyes he gave a small thumbs up at me. For some weird reason my heart fluttered at him actually giving me a response. I looked back to the lady.
She finally spoke while offering her hand for a handshake, "Pleasure to meet you I am Phoenix." I took the handshake so I didn't seem rude. She very much was a very commanding presence to have in the room, it made things feel weirdly safe. I watched her look over face to see any expression I had.
She eventually snapped her attention back to Sebastian. "Anyway, as I was saying. I gotta be on my way..." she paused before speaking again with a joking tone, "have fun with your girlfriend" she scurried away before Sebastian could fully reply. He let out a small scoff before replying down the vent "she's not my girlfriend" he made sure she would hear.
I slightly slipped back into the water while I waited for him to talk. "Anyway how's it going with you?" He asked casually turning his attention fully to me. I thought before i replied, "grand" I simply said.
I was gonna say something before there was commotion outside and a man with a harpoon gun in his hands seemed to appear in the vent a small few words of the conversation that caused the commotion apparently was "fine if you won't kill the damn thing I will" the man looked beefed out. I pulled myself fully onto the land and slithered a bit closer to Sebastian just in case. I wasn't too close but if I had to avoid getting shot I could hide behind him pretty easily.
The man seemed to immediately aim the harpoon at me. I let out a scoff of annoyance, before he seemed to be called by someone on the other side of the vent. Another male voice was there "don't kill the thing tranquilize the bitch" the voice sounded annoyed.
The man scoffed before pulling out a tranquilizer and putting the harpoon gun back onto his back. He completely ignored Sebastian's presence. The same male voice broke through the vent "fire" the man pulled the trigger and before I could react and hide behind Sebastian I had a tranquilizer dart stuck in my hip.
I was quick to pass out. The last thing I saw was the man fleeing into the vent, but I couldn't hear nor see why before I blacked out.
(Timeskip brought to you by author blinding Sebastian with the brightness of the sun)
I started to wake up again. My head hurt and my lower body felt numbed out. I tried to lift my head, but as soon as I did I felt a pain shoot through it and I just gave up. I just looked around from my current position.
Something was placed on top of me. I went against the pain to look, it appeared to be Sebastian's jacket. I was temporarily stunned by the fact he cared enough to make sure I didn't freeze. I felt my heart fluttered slightly at the thought of him caring for me, then I realized how stupid this was coming from a siren.
I laid all the way back down using my hands as a pillow. My body hurt and i could feel something on my head
I reached up and felt bandages. I looked around again for a second, I was alone still. I slowly sat up to avoid hurting my head too much.
The entire room was silent and I took the chance to look around. I saw the vent was bolted shut and I appeared to be stuck in here.
I couldn't care less, atleast if I was stuck in here everything else was stuck out there. I just laid back down and used my hands as a pillow again. I slightly pulled Sebastian's massive ass jacket up over myself while I curled my tail up to lay on it, it was better than the hard and cold concrete floor.
I just decided to sleep again which I quickly fell back asleep. It was surprisingly easy despite my horrible headache.
