Expeditionary groups - chapter 2

Y/N's POV
I had been in the water for a while, I had even found a way outside and into the ocean. I was just casually looking in through windows when I saw a group of humans in diving gear.

I got closer to the glass looking into the room when they saw me. They all seemed pretty confused, some of them looked away from me like I was Eyefestation, others were looking over my body, and one in particular had walked up to the glass and started trying to see if I'd react to anything.

Me being the jokster that I was decided to pull a friendly little joke. I random did a fake lunge, swerved out of it before I hit the glass.

All the ones who were looking at me jumped and the one closest to me yelped loud enough for me to hear it out here. I giggled to myself watching them. They seemed kinda... nice-ish?

Well they did until one of them took out a Flash Beacon and shot me with the brightness of the sun. I had flinched back from the brightness and my hands covered my eyes while I recovered quickly.

They had run off before I could get back at them so I just swam off. I eventually found a way back into the hallways, and decided to hang out there for a bit. I had relaxed next to the edge of the water, letting myself relax against the edge.

I was semi comfortable. I was just relaxing when a single human entered the room and froze at the sight of me. I opened one eye having heard the door open.

There was awkward silence before she slowly walked to the edge of the water opposite of me. I was confused on what she was doing. I didn't say anything, I only raised an eyebrow.

She seemed too afraid to go into the water. At that point I got bored and just swam away, but I did watch from the darkness to make sure she crossed safety, which she did.

I just swam around some more. I found yet another way in and I decided to be adventurous and went into the dim lit waters. On the other side I popped out and saw the fish man, again. He was looking down at the same girl I'd just seen. He looked at me and so did the girl since she saw him looking at something.

They both seemed to freeze at my entrance. Another awkward silence ensued. At some point the girl left through a decently sized vent, which left me alone with the fish man.

I was about to leave before he spoke. "Who even are you?" He had asked. I thought for a second, I didn't truly remember if I had a name before I'd been caught.

All I replied with was "I donno". He seemed slightly confused on how I didn't know my own name. I just rested my arms onto the edge of the land to rest my head on them.

"Ah. Lovely. Anyway do you wanna actually fully enter my shop orrr?" He asked while I was staring at him. I decided to try and trust him.

I slid up struggling to get my tail onto land. After so long of me struggling he picked me up by under my arms and set me down next to him in the corner.

I kinda relaxed. It was a half awkward half comfortable silence that felt like it lasted for hours. At some point he broke the silence. "What are you?" He asked while I glanced to him. "Siren" I simply replied. "Ah." Was all he let out as the silence continued.
