I walked downstairs crying. I pulled out my photo albums and cried even harder. First was a picture of Jack and I in our first apartment, unpacking the kitchen. I heard Elizabeth come downstairs.
"Mom, are you alright?" she asked as she lied beside me on the couch.
"Um, sweetheart. Daddy had to go to home. I'm sorry you didn't really get to see him," I said stroking her hair.
"Mom! That's not fair!" she whined.
"I know, honey," I said.
"I told you Daddy didn't really love me!" she cried.
"No, he does. He flew out here just to see you," I said trying to calm her down.
"Then why didn't I get to even talk to him?" she questioned.
"I'm sorry pumpkin, that's just the way things worked out," I said trying not to freak out. I wondered what Jack was doing. How could he just leave like that?
Elizabeth walked up to her room. I could here her muffled sobs from the living room. My poor baby. She needed a dad that would stick around. I was sick of Jack's bullshit. But really, maybe it was my fault. I left him ten years ago. I honestly was at the point where I didn't care anymore. He could do whatever he wanted.
