I decided to call Jack. His flight was supposed to land about 40 minutes ago. I called, but there was no answer. He texted me that he was busy but he had landed safely. I went up to bed. I thought maybe Jack would call sometime tomorrow. But he never did. Maybe he would call next week, or month. Then, maybe next year. Jack didn't call until three years later, on Elizabeth's tenth birthday.
