After Elizabeth was asleep, I decided to call Jack. He picked up after 3 rings. Right away, I started talking.
"Jack, it's me Emma. I think it would benefit all of us if you were in Elizabeth's life. I know it's my fault and I really-" he cut me off.
"It's a bit late for that, Emma. I honestly don't care anymore," Jack replied.
"You don't care about your own child?" I questioned.
"I do, but I'm busy right now. I finished university and now I'm actually a pediatrician. I have a lot of work and my schedule isn't that flexible," he said.
"I realize that, but just think about it, okay?" I told him.
"I will. Bye," he said hanging up.
