Evelyn's POV:

Unfortunately, all I wanted to was jump into the car and ride away with Kane, but sadly, I did need to talk to my parents because this would be it.

If they wouldn't allow me to be with Kane, then I would simply be withdrawing from the royal family.

Is it what I WANT to do? Not necessarily.

But I would have no other choice.

The last thing I am doing is losing Kane again. You saw what happened after that. I looked and felt like hell.

The rain had finally stopped as I began to walk back up the steps.

And when I finally reached the top, my eyes immediately fixated onto my mother and father, who were waiting for me at the top.

They both eyed me with a straight face, as I did the same back.

Now, I stood only a few feet away from both of them.

"I thought our orders were clear, Evelyn." My mother said.

I narrowed my eyes. "Yes, YOUR orders were clear. Mine were not."

My mothers expression looked offended. "Excuse me?"

I shook my head and sighed out.

"Mother, father." I began.

"I am 22 years old, which means I am an adult. Which means I should be free to choose who I want to love. Not be forced into marrying someone for your benefit. And I LOVE Kane. He makes me feel like I am free, like I am not stuck in this awful world. And I need that from someone."

I took a deep breath as I continued.

"I shouldn't have lied. And I will admit that I was wrong, however; you both have been treating me like a slave that you can do whatever you want with, rather than your daughter. So, this is my proposal. You either start treating me like an adult and start letting me make my OWN descions with my life, or I will be gone by tomorrow night, and you will never see me again."

My mother's lips parted as she soaked in every word.

My father, on the other hand, stared at my mother.

Mom took a step closer to me as she sighed out and glanced at the ground.

"I am sorry, honey. I should have said this sooner, but I was so angry at you about the romance that I just couldn't think about anything else except the crown and the press."

My eyes continued to watch her intently.

"When you and Kane danced today, I could tell by how you both looked at one another, how much you both care for each other. And although he isn't royalty, all we want is for you to be treated well and right by someone. And Mr. Young certainly has done that." She said with a smile.

I couldn't help but grin at her.

She placed her hand on my shoulder. "I promise that I will stop trying to shove this queen thing down your throat and start letting you live your life."

I felt a tear go down my cheek, as my father stepped closer to me and her, smiling.

"We don't want you to leave, ever." My father began. "All we want is for you to be happy, and we are both sorry we didn't realize how unhappy you were."

I couldn't hold it in any longer, I immediately wrapped my arms around both of them as I embraced them both in a hug.

I felt both of their arms wrap around my waist as they both hugged me tightly.

I have needed this for so long.

It has been so long since I have had an actual hug like this from my parents and actual conversation where they listened.

It felt. Nice.

"Just promise me one thing." I began to say as I let go of the hug.

"What?" My father said.

I smirked. "Please let me fire my new bodyguard."

My mother's eyes narrowed. "Evelyn Hale. Be nice."

I threw my hands up. "Listen, he never speaked to me! He probably will be relieved, to be honest."

My father couldn't help but chuckle. "What do you say we get out of here?"

My eyebrows went up. "Don't we have to stay?"

He shook his head. "The party ends in a bit anyway, and I am kind of tired."

I smiled from ear to ear as we began to walk down the steps as we waited for our car to take us back to the palace.

To take us home.
