(Dahyun pov)

"I guess so" I replied while I looked towards Jihyo and saw her eyes light up as she gave me a wide grin

"You won't regret it I promise!" She said happily

"Whatever you say, come on we gotta get there first." Why was she so happy I agreed to having lunch with them? I hope this is the last time we will have lunch together. Everyone would die just to be graced with their presence and here we are having lunch with them, we will surely be targeted...

"Don't worry too much about that"

How could I not? You know what is on my wrist for crying it loud, I haven't even figured out what it means. Do you know?

"Ah you mean on the left right?"

What else could I be talking about then?? Is there something else???

"Yep. Your neck. Pay attention to your neck and wrists, they are significant"

Why must you speak in riddles Yang T-T

"It's fun and also funny"

(Skip: lunch room)

Bloody hell, why does it always have to be so loud in here?? Everyone seems like they are screaming right into may ears.

"So where would you all like to sit?" I asked and turned to Jihyo

"Right over there" She said and pointed to the very corner of the entire space, the place where people basically beg to sit at. It makes me feel odd getting to sit there with Elites and also being invited to sit with them.

"I'll go first while you guys can get your food and what not"

"You aren't coming with us?" Jihyo asked with a semi-surprised look

"Nope, I told you I'm skipping lunch remember?"

"Oh yeah... right"

"What's wrong?"

"It's not good for your health to be skipping lunch, you're already very frail and skinny" she said worryingly. Why was she worried about me anyway? There's no reason for her to do so

"Oh well" I replied and started to walk towards the direction of the table, but felt all the staring eyes turn to me, some were envious, some were angry, some were upset, some were annoyed. It was all a mix, I hated them, I hated the staring eyes. I hate eyes in general, why? I don't know. They always disgusted me for some reason

I pulled out my book from my bag and sat down in the furthest seat of the table, thankfully I found this book or else I'd be dead from all the glares and whispers from the other students, I want to just rip them straight from their sockets.

I'm not quite sure why I chose this book, but I felt attracted to it, something was pulling me ever so close. Next thing I knew, I was walking away with the book safely stored away in my bag. The cover was decorated modestly, there was nothing too extravagant or extreme, it was simple. Blacks and whites that formed into lines and flowers covered the entire front. Opening the book, I was automatically hit with the smell of yellowing paper that hasn't been opened for decades maybe even centuries, I mean I don't think anyone would need a book titled The Balance after all.

The very first page wasn't a title page, but it was like a note, a message—

"In life, sometimes there is no next time. No time-outs. No second chances

There is always a way out, but are you willing to accept it?"

What? I'm so confused on the meaning. Wait. There's something peeking out from where my hand was placed at the bottom of the page, it looked like it was glowing, like it was calling to me—

"What are you doing sitting here you pathetic thing?"
