The loud music and the smell of alcohol (or was it wine? I don't really know since I never had one) welcomed me as I stepped inside the cafeteria which is now arranged for the Homecoming Party. I must say na students are really looking forward for this night. Medyo maaga kaming dumating but, to my surprise, nagmukhang kami ang pinakahuling dumating.
This is the first-ever party I've attended in my whole life. Don't get me wrong pero may in-aarrange naman na parties sa dati kong school but I don't have the mood to go. Para bang wala akong ma-feel na force ng kasipagan para maki-join.
Anyway, the only reason kung bakit ako pumunta dito ay dahil madatory. Sa dati ko kasing school, optional lang if you want to attend their parties. Teka, bakit ko ba pinagcocompare 'yung Montague Academy sa dati kong school? Is it possible to be schoolsick?
"Hoy, Nat! Tulala ka na naman diyan," Snow said while nudging me on my side.
"Oo nga. Let's enjoy the party. It's not everyday that we could experience happiness because, believe it or not, may point sa buhay natin na dadating ang isang napakalaking challenge and we have nothing to do but face it and the consequences it brings," makahulugang sabi ni Diana. Para bang may gusto siyang sabihin na hindi ko ma-point out kung ano iyon. And for a second there, the happy-go-lucky Diana that I know disappeared. Something's off and I can feel it.
I shrugged the curious thoughts off of my mind when I heard Snow say something. "Come on, guys! Masyado kang humuhugot Diana e. Let's just enjoy our Homecoming Party as Juniors!"
By the way, this Homecoming Party is for the Seniors and Juniors. Last Saturday ginanap 'yung sa Freshmen and Sophomores. And to clarify, ang Montague Academy ay for highschool students lang.
"Fine," sabi ni Diana.
"You're not that much excited, are you Snow?" I sarcastically asked.
She just laughed and shrugged. I don't know why but I think this girl is bipolar. One minute, she's serious then the other, she's as hyper as Diana.
"Fine. Let's find our seats first," sabi ko sa kanila.
"Oooh! I know a good spot," hyper na sabi ni Diana. And the happy-go-lucky Diana is back. That was fast.
Nagkatinginan kami ni Snow then nodded.
"May you lead us there, mademoiselle?" formal kong sabi. Natatawa naman si Snow.
"Of course, madame. Follow me," sagot ni Diana kaya natawa kami. We're talking with an accent just for fun.
Natawa si Snow at nakisakay sa kalokohan namin. "As you may."
Nagsimula na maglakad si Diana and we followed her. Nauuna siya samin ni Snow and I can't help but get conscious of the eyes staring at me as if I was new meat. Well, I am new but they don't need to rub it in.
"Looks like attention's all yours," mapang-asar na sabi sakin ni Snow so I glared at her and she just gave me a sheepish smile.
I heaved a sigh. "I, Nathalie Montgomery, now regret agreeing to Diana's choice of my dress."
