You ran.

And after you left the kitchen, silent filled the room. No one dared to say a thing.

You ran into your room and hid in there. Under your desk to be precise, where you knew no one was going to look for you. Clutching an old stuffed animal you'd had since birth to your chest, you started to cry. You had one of your hand cover your mouth, trying to suppress any sound. You didn't long how long you'd been crying, nor did you care.

Natasha was frozen. Her mouth hung open in shock. Her eyes were wide and tears threatened to spill. She stood still, completely stunned and confused, taking the time to analyse and piece together everything that you said.

"Natasha. Go after her." Her teammates encouraged her.

"I- Wha- Yeah. Okay." Natasha stumbled over her words. She bolted out of the kitchen and ran through the compound's hallways, soon reaching your bedroom door. She knocked but not getting an answer, she peeked her head in any way. You were nowhere to be seen. She began to look around when she heard little sniffles coming from a hidden corner.

You were half asleep on your floor. Your eyes were half closed, your breathing started to settle down. You began to relax as best you could when you felt someone suddenly pick you up. Lavender filled your nostrils, but you were too tired to care. You calmed down and gave in, falling into asleep in her arms.

A knock is what caused you to to wake up. You heard two people converse, but you were too tired to listen. You opened your eyes fully when you felt Natasha get out of bed. She covered you with a blanket, gave you an apologetic smile. "Peter needs me for something I'll be back before you know it." She said before turning around. You huffed and turned around with your back to her now.

"Second again. Why am I even surprised?" You mumbled into the pillow that still smelt like lavender. Natasha, of course, heard. She stopped walking and turned around. She sat next to you on your bed. She tried to place a hand on your back, but you moved away, not letting her.

"Y/N-" She began, speaking softly.

"No I don't want to hear it. Please leave." You didn't even turn to face her. Natasha got off the bed, walked slowly out of your room. She stopped at the doorway, looking back one last time, a hand on the handle. Only when you heard the door closed, you uncovered your face. You looked at the window, your head empty of any thoughts. It was a sunny now, though it had rain early in the morning. The leafs were slowly falling from the trees, autumn slowly leaving, letting winter settling in.

What did Peter have that you didn't? What on earth made him so special? You just wanted to know. You wanted a reason why your mother spent most of her free time with him instead of you.

You sighed. You didn't know what to do now.

Because somewhere between then and now, Natasha slowly stopped helping you with your homework to help Peter with his instead. PBJ sandwiches and hot chocolates after school turned into a small packet of processed cookies that you eat alone in your room. Sharing a couch with your mom during movie night turned into sitting all by yourself on the ground because there is no room on the chairs.
