Start from the beginning

"You keep that away from everyone, including Yoongi. Vee told me about what you discovered in that house, and I'm glad you kept it if it brings you closure, but if we ever see Yoongi again, you better hide it the best you can. I don't want you reading that when we go back either. It'll only cause even more pain, and we have enough of that right now. All of us do." Barbie turns her attention forward after that.

Her hands are on the steering wheel, tightly holding onto the wheel while watching Taehyung come back.

He's still bent over, acting as if his stomach is hurting while reaching the back of the truck and handing Twix the safe where he then climbs back there.

With the sudden hit of the side of the truck, Barbie cranks the engine, and we drive away from the gas station.

On the way back home, none of us say a word, too occupied with our hurtful thoughts to strike up a conversation.

Barbie's eyes are stone-cold while driving down the dark road. They never waver from the black-and-white lines she follows.

Twix, I look at through the rearview mirror, eyes the pages of the green journal with heartache written on her face. I watch her wipe a tear with her sleeve and then flip the page.

Taehyung's eyes stare off from behind us, keeping his eyes locked on the road. I know he's waiting for them to come after us. He may not look like he's worried, but I know he is. He's acting calm for our sake.

As we draw nearer to my house, Twix suddenly hits the truck harshly.

"Stop!" She shouts, jumping out of the truck.

Barbie rolls down the window, calling after her. "Are you fucking crazy!" She shouts, anger rising from Twix jumping out of the truck before Barbie could even fully stop the truck.

Twix ignores her and runs into the small patch of trees near the cemetery. Its fancy black gate wraps around the property.

"We don't have time for this!" Taehyung announces with annoyance and sighs when he jumps over the edge and jogs after her.

I watch him go search for her, but Barbie places her hand on my shoulder.

"You should go, too. Those two don't get along well, and I think it's best if you're there." Barbie says, patting the steering wheel now. "I'll stay here with mini-me," she rubs her belly with a smile in my direction.

She urges me out of the vehicle while unlocking my car door, and knowing I can't refuse, I climb out of my side and walk around the front of the truck where I stare at the cracked open, black gate.

Barbie turns the truck's engine off and talks down the rolled-down window. "Make sure to bring both of them back, Vee." She smiles a tad, and I nod.

As I cross into the dark cemetery, I hear nothing but the sound of my breathing and footsteps.

I focus on hearing voices as hard as I can but thankfully, because of their arguing, I find them soon enough when I walk deeper into the cemetery.

As I bypass headstones, I finally catch them in front of a large headstone. Twix is on her knees, head bent to the ground, and whines leaving her lips. Taehyung stands behind her, hands in his pockets, and eyes cast downward with silence.

"Is everything okay?" I come up slowly to them, watching Taehyung turn back to look at me and hear Twix sniff.

"This is none of your business, Vee. Go back to the truck," Twix says coldly while she stands to her feet and wipes her eyes harshly before turning to face me. "This doesn't concern you—"

"If it doesn't concern me, then why are you doing this around me? I understand you're hurting, but doing this here... it's not the time for this Twix. We need to get back before the police show up—"

"You're like everyone else, you know that? Telling me what to do, acting like you give a damn, and asserting your authority on me. You don't know a fucking thing about me." She stares at me with hate.

"For fucks sake," Taehyung takes a few steps away with annoyance as if in unbelief. "You're insane, Twix. She's trying to fucking help you by telling you to get your shit together, and you still can't understand. Hoseok was my friend, too, okay? Stop acting like you're the only one who lost him." Taehyung breathes slowly, and Twix walks up to him before raising her hand and slapping him harshly across the cheek.

"You have no idea what I feel, Taehyung. I loved him. I loved him more than a friend should, and he died before I could ever tell him that." She tightens her grip on the journal. Now, as if remembering what she told me, she turns to face me with tears gushing down her cheeks. "I lied; I'm not gay,"

"Why would you lie about that?" I find the words as I watch her shrug.

"Can I not? Hoseok was my first true love, and he protected me from those perverts at the warehouse. When he died, I got jumped one day. If Ghost didn't show up when he did, there's no telling what they would've done to me. Fucking men," she breathes while sniffing.

"I told him I was going to say I'm gay because guys think girls who are gay are disgusting, right? Most of them won't touch women if that's true, and I knew I had to do something because Hoseok couldn't protect me any longer. I only wanted to be safe, Vee," sighing, she walks past us and toward the exit of the cemetery.

Taehyung's eyes flick to the headstone where we see Hoseok's name written boldly. "She's been coming here for a while. She always replaces the flowers herself because his own family won't even do that. I never knew she loved him, only thought they were close. I knew she was straight, and I knew her cover-up. Truth be told, I thought it would protect her, and it always did."

"I'll talk to her on the way back. You sit up there with Barbie, and I'll try my best." He starts, but before he can walk off, I grab his arm.

"Did he love her? Is that why she's so upset? I know Yoongi is the same way, but what did Hoseok feel?" I ask, trying to understand.

"Hoseok had feelings for Twix, but he never had romantic feelings for Yoongi. It was a huge mess between the three of them. I never got involved, but Twix would come to me crying sometimes when she needed someone to talk to. We were close, but she loved him so..."

After that, he shakes his head and walks away without finishing his sentence. More than anything, I have a better understanding of what's happening now.

Walking back to the truck where I climb into the passenger side, Barbie cranks the engine, and I reach for the radio. I turn on a song and raise the volume.

"They need some privacy to talk. Let's drive around for a little bit, and then we'll head straight home. I think they... I think they both need this." Barbie smiles proudly and starts driving.
