"Hey there." She bent down in front of you, already seeming way nicer. "My name is Maria. What's yours?"

"Y/n." You whispered lowly, Maria almost didn't catch it.

"It's very nice to meet you Y/n. Do you know why you're here?" She questioned as you were obvious completely confused by the situation and nobody took the time to even talk to you before her. You shook your head, and Maria sighed sadly after you confirmed her suspicions were correct.

"The people you were staying with were causing trouble, and so they were arrested." She explained and you let out a small 'Oh'. "We just want to do a small check-up to make sure you're healthy that's all. And all there's left is a blood test." She continued. She watched you put your guard up again, disappointed to have lost the little progress she had made with you.

"It won't take long, I'll be super quick I promise." She promised. You considered it, realizing that if you didn't do the blood test willingly, they'd find another way to do it o might as well cooperate with the nice lady. You sat on the hospital bed, walking past Maria in the process. The brunette opened the package with the needle and prepared everything. She inserted in in your arm, drawing some of your blood and just like she said it didn't take too long. "There you go. Wow, you were so brave. I'm just going to give this to the nurse, and then we can do whatever you want." She smiled at you and left.

She walked out of the room, with the intent to leave you alone for just a handful of minutes. She walked past Fury, showing off in front of the pirate who had a bruise forming on his tibia. "See Fury, that's how it's done."

"Doesn't she remind you of someone?" He asked, ignoring his second's comment completely.

"Romanoff." Maria answered without any hesitation.

"That's what I was thinking. We should probably add a DNA test to the list."

"You don't think..." Maria whispered lowly. This was risky.

"Yes. And that's why we need to be discreet about this. No talking to anyone until we're sure."

Unbeknownst to them, one of their best agents heard the last part as he walked by,  "No talking to anyone about what?"

"Barton! You have to stop doing that." Maria jumped and Fury seemed to be annoyed. Clint couldn't keep anything from Natasha... they knew it.

Shit.

Clint tried not to tell her. He avoided her, making up excuses to leave as soon as he saw Natasha. Frankly, having enough, Natasha quickly cornered her best friend and asked him to confess to whatever he did. Natasha couldn't believe her ears as he spoke. It was just truly unbelievable.

Her daughter had been missing for eleven years. They followed every evidence, every leads possible. They raided every base, looked in every corner. NOTHING

Her daughter was gone, and Natasha was trying to come to peace with that. It was hard, and Clint's lies were just mean.

So he dragged her to the SHIELD HQ. They walked through a bunch of hallways and passed hundreds of rooms. TO Natasha, it felt like an eternity.

They stopped in front of a hospital room... sort of. You hadn't been discharged yet, but they also wanted to keep an eye on you. You were in there, playing some random video game Maria gave you to occupy yourself. If we're being honest, staying there was getting boring and Maria did promise you could do whatever you wanted to do.

"She's in there, and she's yours Nat." Clint said, nudging her, so she'd get in the room with you.

"I don't believe you."
