All of us stand awkwardly in the home. Despite it being old, the apartment is a bit larger than I originally thought, but it's still too small to fit all of us.
"Taehyung, we can't all stay here," Barbie steps up, worry written on her features as well as ours.
"I know. We're stopping here for the night. You're welcome to sleep in my room as well as the living room. I have a bunk bed in my old room, so please, use it. I'll be sleeping on the floor by the door in case anyone tries to come in." He admits, putting the gun he's holding on top of the refrigerator in the kitchen that's close by the front door.
"If we're only staying here for one night, then where to next?" One of the guys steps up from the back of the group, rudely shoving Barbie with his shoulder. "We need fucking safety, Taehyung. You promised us that so where the fuck are we going—"
"Hey!" Taehyung raises his voice enough to shut the other guy up. "Don't talk like that in front of my mother. You show some respect to her for opening up her home to you. She may not speak English, but I'll be damned if you don't show her the respect you would if she did speak it," Taehyung reminds, watching the guy slowly take a step back after hearing Taehyung's tone.
"Now listen here, I will protect you, but we need rest, food and water, and we need to stop and see what's been happening, got it? We've been running all day long. I don't know about you, but my feet are stinging, and I need to shower and rest before I even think about doing this again tomorrow." Taehyung's mother comes up and starts speaking.
Although we don't know what she's saying, Taehyung translates. "My mother wants you to know that she's not stupid. She knows what men and women do behind locked doors, so she has asked for the guys to sleep in one room while the girls are in the other. I personally think it's a great idea because there's no time to be fooling around anyway. Our mission now is resting up before tomorrow begins." He admits, sighing sharply while opening the refrigerator and pulling out a few bottles of water, and placing them on the counter for us.
"You're welcomed to anything in the fridge, to shower, and watch anything on the tv." He ends his speech there while walking with his mother into the living room while flipping on the television.
I grab a bottle of water and hand it to Barbie before they are all snatched. Barbie needs it more than I do, especially with her being pregnant. Thankfully, she did good today, and even though she wasn't supposed to be running, she only did it at close calls. Hopefully, tomorrow will be easier for all of us.
Taehyung suddenly speaks to his mother and chuckles a tad at something none of us can understand. However, when Taehyung turns the channel to the news station, we do understand what's being broadcasted live.
We crowd around the tv screen, sitting on the floor while watching the roof of a building. The helicopter the news reporter is in shows a spotlight on the roof where we spot members of our crew.
I hear Barbie's sharp breath beside me. "They found Jimin," she begins, eyes glued to him while he stands in the front of the crowd.
They zoom in on him and the rest, and we see signs of blood splattered across their faces. Looking at Jimin now, I've never seen his eyes so narrow as if ready to set the whole world on fire, and I know it's because he has no idea if Barbie is safe or not—if she's alive or not.
"The police are coming up the building. We have targeted one of the main followers of the Street Killer. The man you are looking at now has been given the nickname Little Guy, but his identity is Park Jimin. Don't be fooled by his name. The police have rated this individual as a high risk given his criminal history."
The reporter continues talking, but we don't focus on that. We focus on the men wearing black gear who bust open the roof door while wearing helmets and guns as they approach the group.
We watch them surround the group while watching the others get on their hands and knees, putting their hands behind their backs, including Jimin. However, his glare from hell never vanishes from his face as they place the handcuffs on him, yank him to his feet, or shove him toward the exit with the rest.
"They've got him," Barbie covers her mouth, tears coming to her eyes. However, the rest of us keep our attention on the television when she stands up and asks Taehyung where the bathroom is. As he points in that direction, she goes inside to be alone, but I can't seem to go after her when I hear what else the reporter says.
"With more crew members being found in the city, the police are getting closer to settling this once and for all. Here is a statement made by the police." The scene cuts from the woman to a man standing behind a podium wearing his police uniform.
"That's Barbie's brother," one of the other girls speaks up, grabbing my attention.
"He's Niles," Taehyung speaks up from the couch, eyes serious as ever while watching him. "He's been wanting to get Jimin into custody for the longest. He's your average follow-the-rule-book or else cop." He mentions while I focus my attention back on the television.
"We have successfully taken in twenty individuals who are active members of the crew, but we suspect their numbers to be around more than ninety. We have taken in two well-known individuals so far, but we still lack the others. The Street Killer is of now still roaming freely," I find myself letting relief pass from my lips knowing that they haven't found Jungkook.
"As well as Little Guy and his squad, we have also taken into custody the main leader. At approximately 7:36 pm, we placed the main leader, known as Ghost, behind bars." The screen shifts from Niles to showing an earlier clip of policemen bringing Ghost inside the police station. "Ghost has been working with the organization for years and was one of the first members, which we suspect he started the crew. Ghost's real identity is Dawson Mercer who was orphaned from his family a few years before his father's death." Niles continues talking while we watch the footage of them leading Ghost into the station.
"So his real name is Dawson?" One of the guys speaks up, but Taehyung shushes him.
"No, he's Ghost. If Ghost wanted us to know his identity, then he would have told us. We could choose to create nicknames or use our names, and we should respect the decision he chose, regardless if we know his true name or not." I nod in agreement at Taehyung's words. Ghost will always be Ghost to me unless he himself says otherwise.
"Dawson Mercer will be placed on a no-bond and no-contact list amongst the other crew members. Only attorneys will be allowed to see them at this time. That's all for now, but we'll keep you updated. Thank you," then he walks off from the podium and back into the police station.
After that, Taehyung mutes the television.
"I'm going to make a quick announcement for all of you. If you want to leave the city or run, I'll grant that request. This is serious, and I understand the fear you may all have. If you wish to leave, you may do so now, but know when you do, you will never be a part of the crew again, and you cannot speak of it. Your life will forever be changed if you do." I know why Taehyung is saying all of this. It's because none of us are well-known enough for us to be searched for, but I won't leave, even if I want to, because I won't leave everyone behind. Besides, it's not like my face hasn't been seen by the public anyways.
"For those who stay, we'll be working on contacting the others and forming a place to get everyone out of the station. For now, we'll rest up and find a place to stay low." He brings up, while one person, who has remained silent the whole day, stands up, without saying a word, and exits the apartment.
She's too embarrassed to turn back, but Taehyung lets her go; he knows she won't be a betrayer like Acid. He knows she's terrified.
"Everyone else, get something to eat, shower up, and get to bed. We've got a whole new day tomorrow, and our work is far from being done."
