Start from the beginning

He holds a sly smirk on his features, which only enrages me further.

"I'm asking you a question," I storm up behind him, raising my voice with my shoes hurriedly hitting the ground.

"And I said we have to go," he replies, dropping his smirk suddenly when I begin catching up to him.

This time, I grab his shoulder. "Hey—"

I'm thrown off by the swift action of him spinning on his heels to face me, eyes narrowed down at me with his fake smile even seeming to frown.

"You listen to me because I'm in charge. I picked you because I know you have what it takes to fall. After all, you always figure out a way to fly. I chose you because, although you're scared, I know you'll do it. I know everything there is to know about you, and I know that even when you're afraid, you still push on. I need that right now. I need people who have the guts, even when scared, to jump when I say it."

"Does that answer your question?" He raises his voice, annoyance evident in his tone.

He holds his heavy gaze with me, a moment of silence passes between us, but I see it clear as day.

Past the anger, he's hurting. He's pushing himself like he's doing me. He must tell I see it because he turns around and storms out of the warehouse doors, doing a come-on motion with his fingers.

Shutting my mouth, I get a good grip on the bag and walk outside after him. Each of my footsteps is just as confident as his despite the pounding heart in my very chest.

I'm lost as I exit the vehicle, watching Jungkook causally shut the driver's door and open the back door to pull out the bags. I carelessly shut the door with my eyes following up the top of the towering building.

I catch myself gulping at the sight. The darkness pours in around the setting, making it scarier than my mind could have ever dreamt up. Then I lose the skyscraper in the clouds above, and I know how real this is.

The whole ride here we said nothing. Granted, Jungkook was focused on the road while talking on the phone with the others, giving orders as Ghost would do. Jungkook was more focused than I had ever seen him be.

"Don't be scared, Bee. We'll go up, display the message when our crew members make it upstairs, and then it will be smooth sailing from there." He admits.

I always hated that phrase. It seems like every time someone says it, it never truly is as easy as they make it. Most of the time, it backfires—no matter how simple the task is.

I also noticed the way he keeps bringing up the nickname he gave me the first night we met, even though I recall him saying he wouldn't do it anymore. However, for some reason, it's not so bad to hear when considering what I'm about to go up against. Oddly, it's comforting.

"First we'll sneak in and ride the elevator up. We have a few guys working on the construction of the building, and they convinced their team to leave the power running for tonight as a test run of sorts. Since the elevators and the power run throughout the building, we should be good. We will have to walk up a few flights of stairs to make it to the top, but it'll be fine." He pauses for a moment.
