"Zen, please tell me he's lying," I whispered as I felt my heart getting crushed into pieces.

"Then I would be lying, Y/N." He whispered back.

My eyes got watery as I took a step back from him. I couldn't believe this. The guy that I trusted the most was secretly my enemy. All those times we spent together, it was all a lie.

"It seems we have a family reunion here, don't we?" Zalgos's voice echoed throughout the forest before he revealed his presence a few yards away from Zen and me. He started to summon the ring fire which I took the hint to try to escape.

"Y/N! Get out of there!" Slenderman yelled.

By the time I wanted to run, the ring of fire was fully formed with Zalgo, Zen, and me inside. One couldn't get in or out besides Zalgo. The only time Zalgo had formed this ring, Slenderman was inside with me outside with his brothers. Zalgo nearly killed Slenderman the last time it happened.

"This is it Y/N. You're going to finally meet your end!" Zalgo announced.

I looked at Zen who had been fighting off tears throughout this time. As much as I felt hurt, I wanted to believe he regretted it.

"Zen," I grabbed his shoulder. "If you help me kill Zalgo, I promise I'll forgive you for everything and I'll forget this even happened."

"I can't." He whispered. "I'm marked by him."

My blood ran cold as I widened my eyes knowing what this meant.

"If you kill him, you'll kill me. I'm not going to help you, but I'm not going to stop you either, Y/N." He finally looked at me directly in the eyes. "I won't get offended if you choose to kill him."

"I don't understand, you wanted us to leave together a few weeks ago. What changed?"

"My mark disappeared during that time. It wasn't until he marked you that he noticed it. I'm so sorry Y/n, I wish I could have told you sooner."

Guilt took over as I realized that was the only chance for his freedom. Looking at it now, I remember he mentioned that was the way we could both be free. I was so obsessed with wanting to kill Zalgo that now I have to deal with the consequences.

"Make no mistake Y/N, someone here is going to die." Zalgo summoned fire on his palms. "Either I kill you or you kill us, you pick." He smirked. "Although I will say, you're in no condition to even hurt me."

"Zalgo, you can't hurt her!" I heard Slenderman yell from outside. "You can kill me but don't touch her!" Zalgo ignored him as he kept his gaze at us.

I slowly looked at Zen, finding out he was already looking at me with a sad smile. "Go kill that son of a bitch. That's the only way I can escape from him."

"Zen," I whispered before closing my eyes and embracing him for the last time. "I wish I had taken that opportunity to escape with you. I'm so sorry. It's all my fault."

"I was the one who didn't tell you. It's mainly my fault."

We pulled back as we looked at each other one last time.

"Thank you for everything," I whispered.

He opened his mouth to say something but he quickly shut it, nodding his head.

"Can we get this over with, I'm getting a bit sentimental." Zalgo laughed.

I got my dagger from my pocket, charging him at full speed. He teleported behind me before I swung my dagger from behind. He teleported again but this time in front of me. He knocked out my dagger but to his surprise, I had a spare one. I tried to stab him but his hand touched the blade, causing it to melt. I let go of it so I wouldn't burn myself, unaware he had summoned a knife to stab me behind my shoulder. I whimpered, as I took the blade out.
