chapter fifty: on the other side

the kids took one of holly's glowing toys and they placed the pins in a way that would spell out a word for the teens in the upside down.

"come on. come on." steve said.

"seeing this?" they heard dustin ask.

they saw the toy light up and nancy moved her hand around the glowing light.

they heard dustin's laugh echo through the walls making rebecca smile.

"we're not moving it, but we're gonna unplug it. stand by." dustin said.

they saw the light go out, unsure of what dustin's plan was.

"try it now." dustin said.

"okay. um... uh..." nancy said.

she moved her hand so that she could spell out the word hi.

dustin told them that they could see it on their end making everyone excited.

"yes! yes! hi." eddie said.

"okay. um... um..." nancy said spelling out the word stuck.

"stuck." they heard the kids confirm.

"yes." steve said.

"we are." robin said.

"you can't get back through watergate?" dustin asked.

"what the hell's watergate?" steve asked.

"cause it's in the water and it's a gate." robin said.

"oh." steve said.

"that's cute." eddie said.

"right." steve said.

"oh. um, no. it's..." nancy said spelling got guarded.

"okay, watergate's guarded." dustin concluded.

"yes, yes. perfect. yes. yes. yes." steve said as eddie clapped his hands.

"okay. we think we have a theory that can help with that." dustin said.

"yes." nancy said.

"genius child." robin said.

"we think watergate isn't the only gate. that there's a gate at every murder site." dustin said.

"does anybody understand what he's talking about?" nancy asked.

"no." steve and rebecca said in unison.

"no idea." eddie replied.

nancy drew a question mark in the lights so the kids could see it from their side.
