chapter forty seven: snack size gate
the gang was running through the woods following the compass.
"something's happening." dustin said while the others tried to keep up with him.
"dustin? can you slow down? dustin?" eddie said.
"i think we're getting close." dustin said but he stopped once he saw they were at the lake.
"watch your step, big guy." eddie said.
"oh, man. you gotta be shitting me." steve said.
"yeah. i thought these woods were familiar." eddie said.
"lover's lake." robin said.
"this is confounding." dustin said.
"there's a gate in lovers lake?" max asked.
"it actually makes perfect sense." rebecca said.
"yeah, whenever the demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. maybe vecna's the same way." nancy said.
"yeah, only one way to find out." steve said.
they went to go find a canoe and they pulled it over to the water.
"easy. i... i said easy, man." steve told eddie.
"sorry, dude." eddie replied.
"here you go." steve said holding his hand out for robin to get on.
robin used steve and eddie's head to balance herself as she got into the canoe.
"yeah, i'm just gonna do that. thank you." robin said.
"yeah, that works too." steve said.
"good idea, robin." rebecca said doing the same thing as she did.
eddie got in after rebecca and eddie helped nancy in.
"good, you got her." steve said.
"wheeler." eddie said.
"thanks." nancy replied.
dustin tried to get in the canoe with them until eddie stopped him.
"hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us? this thing holds four people top, okay?" eddie said.
"it's better this way, okay? you guys stay with max and we'll stay with rebecca. keep an eye out for trouble." nancy said.
"you keep an eye out. it's my goddamn theory." dustin said.
"you heard nance." robin said.
"who put her in charge?" dustin asked.
"i did." robin said.
