Camilo braced himself. He knew Y/N was standing right outside the door. He heard her coming and he heard her mumble to herself outside the door.

She knocked.

"Tay?", She called. Camilo didn't know what to do. Should he pretend to be asleep? Should he get up and lock the door? Should he let her in?

He just stayed there silent, leaning against the headboard as Tio Erning, with his legs under the covers.

Y/N opened the door after a few more seconds of silence. She had a red shawl tied around her shoulders like a flimsy pañuelo. She looked more like her everyday outdoor self making Camilo panic less, relieved that he wouldn't have to worry about her distracting attributes.

Y/N walked over to him and handed him a mug of something that smelled spicy.

"Salabat", she said. Camilo just stared at the steaming mug. Camilo swallowed dryly, somehow nervous about what's in the mug.

"I made it just how you like it", Y/N added.

Camilo inhaled and accepted the mug, giving Y/N what he hoped was a convincing smile of appreciation.

"Salamat, Nanda", he said, glad that he remembered one of Tio's nicknames for Y/N. She replied with a quick smile before walking away.

Camilo was about to celebrate, thinking that she was going out of the room. Instead, Y/N climbed into the bed beside him, making him panic and try to not show the trembling of his hand which was holding the hot ginger tea.

Y/N kept quiet as she shifted the pillows around her. She faced him, sitting on a pillow, and covering her crossed legs with another.

Camilo didn't realize how he was staring with apprehension. Y/N, apparently satisfied with the pillows around her, looked up at him and frowned.

"You're not gonna drink your tea, po?", She asked. Camilo snapped into his senses and chuckled nervously. Without thinking, he slurped up the spicy, steaming hot, ginger tea. The liquid scalded his whole mouth and the ginger burned on his tongue and throat. He almost turned into himself because of the pain but he held himself together.

He couldn't help but hiss and smack his lips, squeezing his eyes shut to try and throw the burning away. He sucked in a breath through his numb teeth.

"It's-", he squeaked out through his itch throat, "it's still too hot", he said, trying to bring back the saliva in his mouth.

Tio Erning likes this?!

"Ay", Y/N said, "put it on the table first. Let it cool off", she said.

"Cool down", Camilo corrected, still grimacing at the dryness of his hot mouth. Y/N chuckled sheepishly.

"Ay, oo nga, ahehe, sorry"

"It's okay", Camilo said, entwining his own fingers in his lap, hoping to look fatherly.

Awkward silence covered the room. Camilo didn't want to drink more of that spicy tea. He also didn't like how it felt like Y/N was looming over him even though she was just sitting quietly beside him.

He could almost hear her brain ticking.

Please don't act smart tonight, Y/N, he pleaded in his mind.
