After a day of being welcomed by villagers and moving into their new home, Y/N was exhausted and went to her new room immediately.

She surveyed the space and was slowly deciding how to decorate it. She only unpacked her clothes into her new closet but everything else in the room was still bare. She crawled into bed and curled into a ball.

She reminisced the day she's had. They were tired from all the weeks of constant traveling, staying in inns, and carrying luggage. A day ago, heck, only a few hours ago, she thought Encanto was a place of horror and mythical creatures because of the word engkanto. Turns out Encanto was magical but not like she expected. The people were so welcoming it was overwhelming.  The culture was not unlike back home but definitely not the same. Y/N stuck out like a sore thumb. Tatay and Butch could easily blend in with their generic clothes but even her most normal Traje de Mestizas was still very different from the other girls in town. Maybe she should lose her pañuelo? No, she was not ready to change cultures just yet. She missed home where she knew everybody and knew what to do. Home where she was familiar with everything. Home where she could visit the places in town that she knew would comfort her. Here she was a loner. During their walk (parade, more like) towards the house, she passed a couple of teenagers. Some were giving welcoming smiles, some were neutral, the others didn't care, but there was this one girl who looked right past her and at Camilo who was talking to her on her side.

Camilo. He was a nice boy. Albeit annoying, she was glad he was bolder than Y/N. Well, she couldn't help being quiet. That's how she was trained growing up.

"Women are creatures of mystery and poise that spoke the secret language of fans and letting men think they made the first move", her Nanay used to say. The memory made her smile.

Anyway, back to Camilo. He was nice. Cute too. But Y/N wasn't gonna say that, she only just met the guy. So far he was kind, a joker, a shapeshifter, very outgoing. Everybody knows Camilo. Everyone loves Camilo,  especially the kids and that blonde, mestiza girl.

She was thankful for the Madrigals. Abuela reminded her of her Lola Hilaria. Julieta reminded her of her Nanay's cooking. Pepa reminded her of one of her friends back home. She was very expressive and tried to pamper Y/N while they were still at La Casita. Felix and Agustin seemed to get along with Tatay. Isabela, Luisa, and Dolores seemed like good ates. Antonio was there to entertain Butch. Mirabel's energy was contagious and Camilo's jokes and persistence with getting her to talk and do stuff was really helping her with her homesickness.

In one way or another, the Madrigals reminded Y/N of home. Madrigal even seemed like a Filipino last name.

God, she missed home. He missed everything. Her Nanay, Kuya, Tio Tonio, her friends. She missed their old home. She missed everything.

"How are they doing, Dolores?", Abuela asked. Camilo listened from downstairs.

"Ernesto is praying, thankful for the blessings", he could hear Dolores smile. "So is the little boy. He's especially grateful for Antonio", Camilo smiled. Dolores paused. Her voice was low when she spoke again. "The eldest is crying".

Camilo's heart sank. He managed to make her laugh a few times today but he knew something was bothering her. He would catch her just staring around while everybody conversed and helped them move in with a dazed look on her face before he would distract her with something or another.

"Why?", Abuela asked with the same worry Camilo had in him.

"I don't know. She's not saying anything, she just sobbing into her pillow", Dolores replied. "Maybe she's homesick", she guessed.
