"You're five minutes late, Vee," I stop in my steps once I enter the movie theater, dressed up in my fancy, red and black uniform with my golden name tag on my button-up.

"Sorry, Sir," I rush behind the counter, taking my spot next to my coworker, which so happens to be Yoongi.

"I told you that you would be late as always," he raises up from the glass counter with a smug look on his face. "It can't be helped now," he shuts his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest. "Anyway, we've got work to do before we open. Turn on the nacho machine, and I'll get the hotdogs and popcorn ready,"

I say nothing. I hurry to do my task. One more slip up on my part, and I'll be fired for sure.

"I'm so ready to leave this place," Yoongi rests against the wall behind the building while smoking a cigarette.

I sit on the ground, eating a turkey sandwich. "Same," I take a sip of my drink, watching the cars enter and exit the large parking lot on our lunch break.

"What does Vee need to leave this place for? Doesn't her daddy own a store?" I narrow my eyes at him.

"You know damn well my father's store isn't doing good," I sigh, feeling full despite the remaining half of the sandwich in my hand. No doubt I'm full from the large breakfast I had.

I wrap the turkey sandwich up in its wrapper.

"You're not gonna eat that? I'll take it then—"

"I'm taking it home with me. I might get hungry later," I slap his hand away when he bends down to take the food. "They're two dollars at the sandwich shop in the mall. If you're so hungry, go get one yourself,"

I stand, readjusting my uniform, and go back into the mall in the direction of the movie theater. Once inside, I head to the lockers where a small fridge is located in the back. I place my sandwich inside.

While shutting the fridge, a few of the female workers head inside the lockers, too.

"Did you see the clip that was on the news last night?" Mina rushes up to me.

"We don't watch the news," I lie. I don't want anyone to know that our power was cut off because Dad can't save money for the most basic of needs.

Shaking her head as if she expected my answer, she takes out her phone, shoving it in my face.

"Here, you have to see it," she hands me her phone. I take the phone out of her hand, pressing play on the screen.

It's late in the evening. I see the familiar red and blue flashing lights of a cop car. I watch two police officers try to push someone into the back of the police vehicle. Before they shove the person inside, the camera angle turns around in the opposite direction.

At least six people run and tackle the police officers, throwing objects at the police vehicle, and causing any distraction possible to save the person the cops have captured. I watch the camera start shaking. The six people begin running away with the one who was about to be arrested. The one in handcuffs runs with the group while laughing.

The person filming turns the camera on himself. He sticks his tongue out as if he's having the best moment of his life. The video ends, but I don't understand the point.

"You recognize him, don't you, Vee? He graduated with us last year. The one filming," Mina rewinds the video, pausing on the guy's face. Once she does, it hits me.

"That's Kim Taehyung," I breathe, letting his name roll off my tongue because I had forgotten all about him. It's strange. It's only been a year since high school ended, yet I'm forgetting the people who were in my class.

If my memory is correct, we had second-period Spanish class together. I sat in the middle of the classroom, and he sat in the back sleeping the whole time. Other than being in the same class, I wasn't around him much.

"I never knew he was running with that crew," Mina replays the video for the two female workers to watch.

"Crew? What do you mean?" I ask, confused by what she means.

"He's running with the Street Killer. His gang, too. It's pretty bad from what I hear. It said on the news these people were in close relation with the Street Killer." She directs her attention to the video once more. I exit the locker room while they stay and talk about it.

I don't have time to worry about issues that don't concern me. Kim Taehyung can do whatever the hell he pleases; no one will see me give a damn.
