Dona's POV:

As I had hoped for, the governor came to my ryokan that weekend. His assistant had called us a day before and so we had prepared to welcome him.

"It must have been hard on you, your excellency. This week, I mean," I asked while assisting my geishas to serve him.

He let out a deep sigh and shook his head.

"So you heard? Tsk. Of course you did. It has been everywhere on the news since the week began,"

"Yes. Mind if I join you, your excellency?"

"Oh not at all. Have a seat," he sat and motioned for me to sit on the other side of the low table.

"Thank you,"

I took a seat and once my geishas were done, I sent them away.

"It was wise of you to drop the Kurosawa group immediately," I told him while filling his cup with warm, delicious tea.

"That fool ruined himself and almost took me down with him. I cut all ties with him. A disgrace he is, truly. I considered him a son and yet he went ahead and did abominable things," the old man said with a shake of his head. "I lost so much money because of him,"

"I understand how disappointing that must really be,"

"Disappointing is an understatement. And you, miss Mondello? You must be as frustrated as I am,"

"No. I sold my shares weeks ago. After the immature failure of the car producing subsidiary, I lost all trust in the Kurosawa group. Hence, I withdrew my investment and sold my shares,"

"Is that so? I had no idea. That was smart of you."

"I invested somewhere else, buying shares and whatnot," I continued, serving him more tea. "Best financial decision I made. I made profit so fast that it genuinely surprised me,"

This clearly grabbed the governor's attention as he immediately looked up at me.

"Really?"

"Yes, your excellency,"

"What conglomerate, company or business was it?"

"The most successful conglomerate of the country..."

"The Toyokawa group??"

"Yes, sir,"

He was silent and thoughtful for the first few seconds. Then spoke again.
