“Today was so much fun!” Safaa exclaimed as we were heading back to my home. I was not sure when my parents would head home, so Zayn and his sisters decided to head to my home for a bit.

“I know. We have to do it again,” I gushed out.

“Tomorrow?” Doniya asked.

“I’m sorry; I have this huge test on Monday and I need to study all day”

“Okay”

“Maybe next weekend – Friday?” I suggested.

“Sure”

“That sounds great”

“What’s the test on?” Zayn asked.

 “The history of Roman literature”

“Oh, so you’re taking Roman literature? How is that?”

“It’s okay. I’m not much a fan of it, but I need the class” I shrugged.

“Cool,” He nodded his head.

“When do you have a break?” Waliyha asked.

“End of this month” I replied, thinking that’s when the engagement would be.

“Oh right”

We finally reached my driveway when my mother called me.

“Hello?”

“Zara, where are you?”

“We just reached home. Where are you?”

“We’re just done with the dinner and are heading home”

“Okay”

“Are Mr. and Mrs. Malik coming with you two?” I asked.

“No, they’re heading back home”

“Okay”

“I’ll see you home”

“You too”

“Bye Zara”

“Bye Mama”

“Your mom?” Zayn asked.

“Yup, she said they’re done with the dinner”

“Okay; are our parents coming to your place?”

“No, but if you guys want to come, you totally can”

“No, it’s okay. We should head home”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, it’s fine. You go and study for your test”

“Well, I’ll see you guys soon. Bye!”

“Bye!” They chirped.

They waited until I walked into my home to drive off.

“Zara, are you home?” My mother shouted.

‘Yeah, I’m in my room” I called back.

She knocked on the door and walked in. “How was it?” She asked.

I shrugged my shoulders. “It was fine”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing”

“What did you do?”

“We went to Joyland, then we got some pizza”

“Who paid?”

“For the pizza?”

She nodded.

“He did. I offered, but he just never listens to me,” I sighed.

She laughed, “Men never listen. They’re so confusing”

“That is very true,” I agreed.

She looked over at my books and papers scattered across my desk. “Well, I’ll let you study” She kissed my head and walked out.

“Thanks Mama; goodnight”

“Goodnight Zara”
