You know life just begins
When you look over your shoulder
And smile at them.
When you think of them
every moment of every day.
As if the whole world
Was in black and white
And suddenly color bursts from every corner
Every thought
Every sound.
Those songs of sadness
That meant so much to you
Now only speak in memories
As you watch your world
Melt into colors
Too beautiful to understand at first.
Dizzying
Wonderful
Joyous love.
That's when life begins;
When you see them and know.
You think of them every day
And they protect you from all your monsters.
They love you for your flaws
And if you tell them to leave
They pull you closer,
That is love.
You might not even realize it,
But if they care so much,
Maybe
Just maybe
They love you too.
They might live for you
As you would them.
But alas
You're too afraid to ask.
And before you or anyone could guess
You're gone.
And they weep
As if the tears
will never stop flowing down their face,
They cry eternally
For the loss of one soul
Their soul had become yours
And you let go of yours
So they are gone.
And in your foot steps
They follow
Into darkness of the day.
