chapter 26 - mom

warren and I look at each other in complete shock at what we just heard, having not heard any of this before obviously.

"I guess so" carina cried

"Come here," Maya said holding her hand out to ava who gladly held it

"Are you ok?" Maya asked ava

"I should be asking you that"

"I'm fine, he's done a hell of a lot worse"

"So, he did it to both of us?" ava asked 

"yeah" Maya sighed sitting up

"I'm sorry" ava whispered through tears

"Come here," Maya said opening her arms to her

"I don't want to hurt you"

"You won't, I want a hug from my baby," she said as ava went over and hugged her

"Ok, we're done here," I said as warren and I got out of the car.

"And I'm going to let you... do whatever" ava said smiling as she got out with us

"If you liked being touched I would give you the biggest hug right now," I said to ava who was wiping the tears away

"Screw it," she said wrapping her arms around me tightly

I held onto her for a while whilst warren looked at us like a proud dad.

"I'm glad he didn't hurt you too," she said as we carried on walking up to the beanery

"I'm glad I heard things banging around or we wouldn't have thought to go in"

"I know. I look like a mess" she said looking in her reflection of a window we walked past

"liar" I laughed

We went back into the room where everyone looked terrified

"Is she ok?" Andy asked

"Physically? She's fine but mentally, I'm not so sure" I answered

"Why did he beat her up?" jack asked

"that's a story and a half," I said

"Not really," ava said as everyone looked at her to continue

"Well, it turns out my dad slash abuser slash rapist was also her dad's girlfriend's boyfriend who abused and raped her too, so he was planning on coming here and raping her again, which he would've done if you didn't go in there when you did," she said simply while getting a water bottle out of the fridge

Everyone was looking in shock at what she just said as she turned around and noticed

"it's the shock," she said before heading back downstairs

Carina's POV

"Are you ok Bella?" I asked her as I layed next to her in the bed

"He was going to rape me" she whispered

"I know, I'm sorry we didn't get there sooner"

"There was no way you could have known what he was going to do"

"I'm still sorry"

"But I didn't let him," she said smiling softly "I fought against him. I never used to do that, I gave up all hope of getting him to stop but I thought of you and ava, and I fought, and I mean I won" she laughed softly

"You did Bella"

"Was ava ok? I can't really remember much"

"She was scared of you getting hurt so when you did, it just freaked her out"
