chapter 19 - therapy

Carinas POV

After the struggle of getting Maya home, we all sat on the couch talking about what the hell just happened

"Is Maya working tomorrow?" Amelia asked

"Yeah, I don't know if she should take the day off or- "I said

"Is there a way she can take a few weeks off or something?" kai suggested

"Yeah, is there like a mental health leave of absence?" Amelia added

"I'm sure if we spoke to them, they would allow her time off, why?"

"Maybe she needs time to process everything and get past the first part of this without the pressure of work?"

"Yeah, I can try and call them tonight"

Maya began to wake up and was now just laying on my chest clinging to me.

"Hey Bella, you, ok?"

She nodded into my chest, and I didn't want to push her, so I just left it at that when it comes to how she felt.

"Do you want to go and get changed?"

She nodded her head again before getting up off of me and going into our room to change. She comes out of the room wearing the same jeans but a different top

"I only have shorts" she sighed

"don't worry about us, we won't judge you. Look, I'll make it even" Amelia said before taking her jumper off, leaving a short-sleeved top underneath

We could see the scars all over Amelia's arms and kai rubbing them up and down comforting her.

I could see Maya looking at her before hesitantly going back to change.

"You didn't have to do that," I said to Amelia

"it's ok, I'm fine with them now, but I remember what it was like to hate them"

We were watching tv until Maya come back out with an oversized jumper and shorts on with her hair in a bun on the top of her head. She came and laid down next to me with her head on my chest.

I could see Amelia looking at her like a proud mum while I was tracing my fingers over her thighs. You could see the newest one, still red and sticking out from the rest.

"You ok Bella?" I said as I noticed her trying to keep her eyes open

She nodded into my chest, but I knew how hard she was trying to stay awake

"it's ok Bambina, close your eyes" I whispered into her ear

"Let yourself sleep baby girl" I added

She had eventually let herself fall asleep along with kai and Amelia, closely followed by me.

Mayas POV

I opened my eyes the next morning to be met with my favourite smell in the world, carina's perfume.

"Morning Bambina"

"morning" I whispered still half-asleep

"Kai and Amelia are still asleep"

"Wait what about work?" I asked confused as to why she didn't wake me up earlier

"I already called in; they're allowing you a few weeks off if you need them"

"No, I can push through, I'm fine"

"Maya?"

"No- I don't- I'm not weak- I don't need a break- I can push through- eyes forward at all times" I recited from memory
