Saltu Fidei

Leap of Faith

As what he implied sunk in on Taehyung, the latter hugged him tighter to himself. Like a little kid trying to hide away in the comfort of his teddy bear. Jungkook let him, of course; needing the feel of him as close as he could get to remain focused on who he was right now.

Slowly, Jungkook turned around in his hold until he was holding Taehying's face with his cold hands. The latter kept on hugging him tight by his waist and only looked up when Jungkook softly nudged him to do so. Yes... he was terribly tired. The outer corner of his eyes and mouth were looking downwards and the shadows of a restless night appeared to be deeper after all his energy had been drained in a matter of minutes.

But Jungkook had to ask him something.

He almost grimaced in guilt as he took a breath, but tried to ask him anyway.

- That... That man on the phone--

Taehyung turned his face to the side, averting his eyes and making Jungkook's hands let go of his face. This time, Jungkook did grimace a bit. But he placed his hands on each side of his neck and tried again.

- Did you feel like you knew him or--

- Why--... Why are you asking me about these people? - Taehyung closed his eyes as his hold on Jungkook turned tense.

- No, I just... - He swallowed. - I just want to know if you remembered a place like--

!I--... - Jungkook jumped a bit, but Taheyung held him tighter, hiding away in his neck once more as he rapidly started muttering. - I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scream, I didn't mean to scare you. -

Slowly Jungkook wrapped his arms around his neck, still feeling the chill that had run down his spine at his sudden outburst. But Taehyung gave him a soft kiss on the neck and muttered again,

- Please, let's not talk about this. -

Jungkook would've let it drop if it hadn't been for the sound of another booming lightning hitting the ground not too far from them. So he opened his mouth as he pushed Taehyung back a little to see him better.

- I feel like we do need to talk about this. -

- I feel like we don't. -

- Why not? - Jungkook lifted his chin, a bit in defiance for some reason.

- Because the whole subject freaks me out. - Taehyung nodded as his eyebrows rose, trying to leave it clear. And Jungkook nodded too.

- Yes, it freaks me out too. And it feels like it's too far-fetched and made up and delusional, but whether we like it or not, it's still happening. - He raised his shoulders and then let them drop. But Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows.

- If you're so accepting of this, why did you look so scared when they got here? -

Jungkook bristled a bit.

- I wasn't scared of them, I was scared about what the sight of them and the news they brought would cause on you. I was planning on telling you about them tomorrow but then here they come, declaring that they know me and you have no idea... It was just all so--... It caught me off guard, that's all. -

Taehyung nodded as if he got it.

- You were afraid of me. -

Nope, he didn't get it.
