It was Sam's birthday on the 10th of September (a couple days after we returned for Prague), and I went around to her apartment to drop her a gift. Since Kristie is living in Houston, and Sam is in England, they are long distance, which is hard. I would hate to be in a long distance relationship with Jill, which was one of the reasons she didn't consider going anywhere else I think.

I texted sam.

Indi: Yo, I am here. Let me in

Sam: Key is in the pot

I reached into the pot plant next to the gate, and found the key to her complex. I let myself up and knocked on her door.

"Just come in!" I heard her shout from inside. I opened the door and went inside.

"Thought I would just be polite!" I called back. She was getting out of bed when I walked in.

"Sammi," I started to say, "It's 10 in the morning, why are you still in bed?"

"First of all, it's my birthday, I can sleep in," she said, coming out of her room, and going to make some coffee, "and I stayed up late talking to Kris."

"Makes sense," I replied, "well happy birthday!" I leant over to her and gave her a hug.

"Thanks. Want a coffee?" She asked.

"No thanks," I answered, instead I went to her fridge and got myself a glass of orange juice, my favourite.

"How's Kris?" I asked her.

"Good. I miss her like crazy. Distance is so hard." I nodded, not understanding what they were going through, but could only imagine. "It's also kind of hard, knowing that Rachel is in her team, and she spends more time with her than with me."

"You don't need to worry about her," I replied to Sam, "Kris and Rach are just friends, only friends." I could understand why Sam would be anxious. I couldn't imagine Jill being half way across the globe spending more time with her ex than me.

"I know, I have nothing to worry about. I just want her to come over, so badly, but her season doesn't end till the end of October."

"Well, that's not too long. You guys were apart longer than that before."

"Yeah, but now I know what it is like spending a month with her, and I don't think I ever want to be apart from her again," she said.

"Well, maybe Kris will come over and play next season here?" I said, hypothetically. It would be a dream for both Sam and I if Kristie came over.

"Maybe, but she is settled in Houston." I nodded in agreement. Kristie found her place at the Dash, like Sam found her place at Chelsea, and I have with Arsenal.

Sam and I sat on the couch together talking about all things, until I had to rush off to our friday training session.

I picked up Jill from our apartment and drove to the training ground. We were five minutes early so it gave me time to write up a birthday message for Sam. I posted a story of us at the Olympics, celebrating after Sam just scored the goal so we would go into extra time with Great Britain. I captioned it:

Samantha Kerr has turned the ripe age of 28 - everyone give her love

The second story I posted was of us at the training field in Tokyo, laughing our heads off after we both fell over each other's legs. I wrote:

When the striker tries to steal the ball off a defender - stick to what you know sammi :)

Sam reposted my stories on her instagram and sent me a message, replying that I made her fall over.
