Claire Amber Rose

"Catherine can you change this fabric to the silk one?" She nods her head and proceed to take the silk fabric. I'm currently in my studio with my other designer. We are currently designing a dress for Candice Swanepoel. In 2 months there will be a met gala and she will wear this dress to the red carpet.

I begin creating the pattern on the dress form cutting the pattern on the fabric. Afterwards, I start stitching the base and smooth down the fabric. Catherine and Patricia help me with the crystal that will be place on the neckline of the dress. Creating a glamorous look. Fedric, Carla and Jake are in charge for the puffy skirt. The crystal will be decorating the skirt as well creating a flower pattern at the right side.

For hours we cut and stitch. We have a little break then continue working again. At 4 o'clock we decided to call it day. Walking back to my office, I lean back to my chair while doing a little stretching. I grab my phone from the table and saw 5 missed calls from my mom. Frowning, I sit up straight and call my mom.

Why isn't she answering?

Did something happen?

Mom answer my calls, before she could even say hello, I burst out. "Mom! Are you okay? Did something happen? Are you sick?"

She responds with a chuckled. My brows knit. "Calm down Claire, I'm fine."

"Then why are you calling me 5 time?"

"I was just going to ask if you're busy tomorrow."

"Oh, you're making me worried mom."

"I'm sorry dear."

"It's fine mom. And why are you asking?"

"A friend of mine asked me to hang out since her son is visiting her from France and I want you to accompany me." I know where this going.

I stood up to face the window. The busy street of New York is all I could see from my office. "Are you sure I'm just going to accompany you? No other intentions?" I raised my eyebrow even though my mom could not see me.

"Of course not! I don't want to go alone." I sighed. "Okay, fine I'll come. Just text me the time and place."

"Thank you honey, see you tomorrow. Love you."

"Love you too mom."

The next day my driver drive me to the vineyard, the location of the place my mom sends me. It took me about one and the half hour to finally arrived at the place. I step out from the car and make my way to find my mom.

I smoothen my dress

I smoothen my dress. A simple rogue pink color dress with a heart neckline. The dress consist a button at the front and a slit. I looked around the place until my eyes land on my mom. I climb the stairs to an outdoor Cafe and saw my mom and a woman about her age are engaged in a conversation.

"Hello," I greeted them. Mom stood up and embrace me in a warm hug. It's been a while since the last time I visit her. "You came." I pull away and smile at her. "Of course mom."

"I want you to meet my friend Linda." I turned to her, nodding my head with a smile on my face. "Hello, is nice to meet you."

"You two honey." She turns to my mother and said. "Carla, you never say your daughter is Claire Amber Rose." Mom only chuckled in response. Mom told me to sit and I sit next to her. We talked for awhile until a man voice with a slight French accent greet us.

"There is my son. Where the hell are you?"

"Sorry ma, traffic." He kissed her mom cheek then turned to us. "Bonjour, sorry I came late."

"Hello, it's okay." Mom answer. "This is my daughter, Claire." He outstreched his hand and I take it. "I'm Gavin, nice to meet you mademoiselle."

"Likewise." He sat across me. We have a little snack while talking about work, life etcetera. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Gavin stealing glances at me.

"Why don't you two take a walk around the garden while Linda and I will wait for our friend." I raised my eyebrow at my mom. She shot me a smile but I could see hint of mischievous in her eyes. I so knew it, she is planning to play the cupid here. But sorry mom it won't work for me.

But I still oblige it. Besides it's only a walk, what worst could happen?

Gavin and I descent the stairs. We made our way to the grape garden. For the first, two minutes, we didn't say a word. We probably don't know what to say to each other. The silence is being cut by a phone call. Gavin took his phone and apologized. He then answer it in French.

"Qu'est-ce que c'est?" (What is it?)

"Il est d'accord avec le contrat?" (He agrees with the contract?) "D'accord, je l'appellerai plus tard." (Okay, tell him I will call him later.)

"Merci, jo." (Thank you, jo.) He ended the call.

"Réussir à obtenir le contrat?" (Success getting the contract?) I asked. "Oui," (Yes,)  He then looked a little suprised by my question more like he didn't expect me to speak French.

"You could speak French?" I smirked. "Oui," I continue my walk while looking around the garden. "I didn't know you could speak French." I shrugged. "You didn't ask."

"Claire Amber Rose, the famous designer, oui?"

"If that's what people said then yeah."

"I never thought I will meet the owner of the Roses boutique. In France a lot of people admire your collection."

"Merci."

"But I'm not going to lie though, you really have a beautiful collection. If you realize, my mother is wearing one of your collection." I chuckled. "I noticed." The one awkward tension starting to melt down.

"So Gavin, you live in France?"

"Yeah, my work is in there so I don't have any choice."

"What about your mother? Is she alone here?"

"Sometimes she visits me but she prefer to stay here in New york because she doesn't have a lot of friends in Paris." I nodded. "But why didn't you move your work here instead living in Paris?"

"Before my grandfather died, he actually told me to not move the company to the states because his father build the company from scratch. So I don't have any other choice than to oblige it."

"What about your dad?" He sighed. "He died in a car crash when he was in Paris, maybe that's one of the reason why my mom prefer to stay in New york." My hand rested on his shoulder to give him a reassuring squeeze. He smile gratefully. "How about you? Are you in a relationship?" I drop my hand to my side then rolled my eyes.

"I knew you were going to ask that but no. I don't do dates. I mainly focus on my work." He nods. "Me too, I was a workaholic but then I remember my grandma always says, 'you only live once so don't waste your time on work' that's why I start to enjoying my life. You should do that too."

I half smile. "Yeah, I'll think about it." After our walk, we went back to the Cafe only to find another guest.

"Oh there they are," Linda said and the they turned around. My eyes widen and I suck in deep breath.

No freaking way...

He smirks looking at me.
