I wake up at the hospital with so many needles in my hand. Damn I'm trypanophobic. AND I got a broken leg and a broken arm. I look around me and see my parents, Michael and Sophie sitting. My mother sees I'm awake.

"Sweetheart, are you okay?", she asks and runs to me.

"What happened?", I ask.

"Some car bumped against you. The cops say it was deliberate.", she answers.

"What car?", I ask.

"A white Ford.", she says.

I remember what happened.

"Michael!", I call.

He runs to me.

"Yes.", he says.

"Did you ask your super nice girlfriend about what happened?", I ask.

"I'm sorry.", he says and kisses my hand.

I gasp because he touched the needles.

"Sophie!", I call.

She runs to me and hugs me.

"Can you please tell Michael where the door is?", I ask.

"Joyce, he was so worried about you. And now you wanna kick him out?!", she asks frustrated.

"Michael Joseph Jackson, do you think of telling her what happened?", I ask.

"We all know, Joyce. You don't know how worried he was about you and it wasn't his fault.", she says.

"Can I have a word with Michael, please?", I ask.

Sophie nods and sits with my parents.

"That was harsh.", I say.

"I'm sorry, Joyce. I really am. If only I wouldn't let you go, this wouldn't all happen. I'm a dick.", he says.

"It's okay. Don't blame yourself.", I say.

"Joyce, I broke up with Grace.", he says.

I tried not to smile. I was soo happy.

"Ms Garcia, you're already awake.", I hear the doctor saying as he walks in.

"Dr Nguyen, when will Joyce be able to go home?", my farther asks.

"She'll do some tests to check that she's already better and then she can go home.", Dr Nguyen says.

I have to do tests. HOW PERFECT?! More needles. I do the tests.

"The results are good. Joyce is getting better.", Dr Nguyen says. "Can I talk to you outside, Mr and Mrs Garcia?"

They go outside. I can't hear them. They go back inside.

"What happened?", I ask them.

"Nothing, you're getting better.", my mother says.

"Can I take care of Joyce, please?", Michael suddenly asks.

I stare at him.

"This will be so difficult for you, Michael. You already have school and it's so hard to do both.", my mother says.

"Attendance isn't required now since graduation is soon and I would really love to take care of her.", he says. "Please."

"Okay, if you want to.", my father says.

"Thank you so much, James.", he says.

"We'll come everyday to check on you, Joyce.", my mother says.
